Does anyone know what the carb content is in the little tubs of "Meow Mix Pate Toppers?
It has starch listed, but way down the list of ingredients.

I wouldn't feed these without having confirmation of carb content from the as-fed values. Starch may be lower on the ingredient list, but you don't know how much is in it without the as-fed values, and "food starch" is an ingredient to generally avoid with a diabetic (they aren't even specifying the type of starch, which is a red flag for me).

Thanks Julia. It was a red flag for me too. I guess Sophie will be able to enjoy it, locked in her room, so Tucker won't!
I was looking at the ingredients of many of the "classic pate" varieties today, and found many of them had rice. I believe it was the 9 Lives and Friskies brand.

Friskies does have rice in all their pates, which is why I stay away from them. Many people feed them here with no problems, but the rice makes me nervous because you never know when Purina might decide to up the content from this batch to that batch to save a few bucks since it's a cheaper ingredient than meat. Bandit also happens to be VERY sensitive to carbs from rice even in very small amounts, so his BG rises on it. The alternatives I suggest are Petsmart's Grreat Choice Pates or Walmart's Special Kitty Pates. They're the exact same thing as the Friskies, but no rice. They're also both lower carb and cheaper than the Friskies.

I think there's a few 9 Lives that are ok to feed, but watch out because many of them have soy in them, which is not good for cats.

Well..... Tucker answered my question about the Toppers. I fed it to Sophie yesterday late afternoon, and she loved it. I went to answer the doorbell, and when I came back, Tucker was in Sophies room finishing the leftovers up. It was just minutes, and Tucker had his own fresh food in his bowl. Boy, those carbs must smell and taste good!
Anyway, this morning at 9AM I checked his BG just for the heck of it and it was 220! 3 hrs later it was down to 100. That was the only possible cause, at least food wise. Gave me a scare!
