Hello, fellow ProZinc folk. No emergency or anything, but I was wondering if someone could take a look at Melville's charts. I've been doing a pretty miserable job staying on schedule and being consistent, but having recently dropped into green a couple times, I would like to see if you think I'm on the right track.

I'm updating his "everything chart" which includes food intake, but the color chart is up to date. Links in my sig.

Thanks, everyone!!

Welcome to PZI! This is a small but friendly forum, busiest in the am and pm. Everyone here uses or used your insulin so you will get advice on how it has worked for others. Since it is not a busy forum, if you ever have an emergency, be sure to post on Health also.

I think Melville is looking great. Unusual nadir late in the cycle today though, which sometimes means the dose is a little high. I think I would drop back to 1.25. It is early in the game and he may still be adjusting to the insulin and food. If you can't be around to monitor, be sure to leave out food so he can bring himself up if he needs to. Hopefully you can find a dose he can settle into for a few cycles.

Thanks for checking, Sue! I feel like I keep bouncing between 1 and 1.5 units, so I guess I'll split the difference! It makes me sick to think what would have happened if I had just blindly given him 2 units twice a day as prescribed.

In general, how long does it take for things to settle in after changing a dose? A few cycles? A week?

Thank you for your advice!
eric

It's that Every Cat is Different thing, Eric. Once you get more numbers, you'll get a better idea of how long it takes for Melville. But often, 3-5 days.

Hi Eric and Welcome to PZI land
I am the resident early bird (at least Monday thru Friday, Saturdays I go back to bed!)
I am in agreement with Sue, I would try the 1.25 and hold for a while to see
how Melville reacts to it.
Good luck and we are all here for you!

Well, looks like 1 unit wasn't quite enough. 177 at +5, 384 at +9. He'll be close to 500 by the time his scheduled injection time comes around.... I wonder if I should shoot an hour early? I'll do two cycles of 1.25 and see how that turns out.

Thank you!
