Good morning, everyone!

+10 168 (fed 30g)

I set my alarm incorrectly, so I missed the nadir. May have dipped into green. Heading back to bed for another 2 hours and the test, shoot, feed.

Test, shoot, feed... tsf... is that like gym, tan, laundry ?

Re: Melville 1/7 AMPS 261, PMPS 375

+10 168, fed 30 g
AMPS 261, fed 20g
+2 ???, fed 25 g
+4 250
+6 175
+9, 214, fed 21
+11, ??? fed 20
PMPS 375, fed 20g

To be expected, I think. I fed him at -1 and -3. I know his PMPS was affected by the feeding, but his BG three hours before the shot he was 214 on its way up. He also had 3 hi-carb treats, which is atypical (we don't do treats in our house, but he's been so twitchy with his shots lately that I decided to start now with a single treat. Funny how he was so good for so long, but now that he knows what's coming, he's not happy about it! Guess it's time to spring for some freeze dried, high protein stuff!)

What I like about today's curve is that it is a normal smile curve - nadir around midcycle, slow drop, slow rise. He had late nadirs in some of his other cycles.

I buy the dog pure protein bites- much cheaper than the ones for cats.

Thanks, Sue. I was hoping for 24 hours without pink, but you're right: this is a nice, even, predictable curve. Beyond this, I've noticed a dramatic reduction in urine output (it's hard to tell with three cats, but I went from 4-5 scoops of dirty litter per morning down to 2. That's saying something!). His spine is not as boney as it was a couple weeks ago, and he's been very feisty lately. So, these three things plus a gentle curve make me happy. I'm not interested in making changes too quickly, but do you think I have room to increase? Of course, with the U40's, it's almost impossible to get fractional doses. Maybe I'll pick up some U100s at the pharmacy tomorrow.

Eric

You have done 3 cycles on 1.25. Better to add when you know you can be around to monitor, so I would think it would be okay. But, yes, it would be nice to go up to 1.3 or 1.4 instead of 1.5

It's good to raise by .5 when you are in the higher numbers because you are looking for a bigger swing downward. In the range Melville is in, a swing very far down could be too low. So I would want to change in small increments, giving him time to adjust.

Sue, I somehow missed your advice on Saturday. I ended up increasing to 1.5 (quarter of a unit). It's so hard with this darn U40 syringes that I doubt I could have done a 1.3 or 1.4 anyway. Vet appointment on Saturday -- we'll see if I can get some U100s.
