Medical alert tags

Hello,

I just wanted to pass this along to all of you as I think it is really cool, forgive me if you already know about it. Its a very cool place I found for ordering ID tags.

When Saatz was diagnosed last month one of the first things I wanted to do was get a medical alert tag. He is not an outdoor cat, he only goes out back (which is fenced) on a harness and lead, when he feels like it, which isn't often. But, I am paranoid and kept thinking about all the scenarios that could happen if he somehow got lost, and quickly ordered a tag from http://speedypetproducts.com/. It did not arrive very quickly and looked nothing like what was shown on the website, it was not centered at all, and the lettering was not darkened like it was pictured. There was no way I was gonna use that horrible tag.

After looking around for a bit I came across an etsy shop run by a woman named Melissa, who is an artist, a jeweler out of Virginia who also makes pet tags. Here is her site: http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoggoneTags?ref=seller_info

I cannot say enough good things about my experience working with her. She had to customize my order to get all the info I needed across the back of the tag, as the standard size would not accommodate 2 phone numbers and a medical alert. She didn't even charge extra for doing that for me, and she had the handmade custom tag made and ready to send (it ships today) in under a week. I have attached a pic she sent me of the finished tag, (The image is actually quite large and a bit grainy, but if you look at her site you can see better pics) and when I get it I can post a pic of the back if anyone has any interest in seeing how she did the info back there. Plus of course I can post pics of Saatz wearing his fancy new bling. :P

So, if you are looking for a unique and beautiful tag that also can function as a med alert, check her out. She will work with you to get what you need on that tag and will even do custom designs, not just resizing, but she will work with you to do any design that is feasible. Plus, her customer service was prompt and excellent. Oh, and she doesn't charge shipping.

Anyway, I am done gushing, just wanted to send this out as I love supporting artists and/or locally made products VS corporations.

Cool

I bought a medical ID tag from here several years ago for my diabetic http://www.gotags.com/medical.php I got the mini/small sized one and included my phone numbers and the vet/vet ER phone number.

Even if your cat is indoor-only, it's still a good idea to have your diabetic wear a collar with a medical ID tag just in case. Cats can stealthily sneak past doors that are open "for just a second" or fall out of a window with a loose screen, etc.

I defiantly agree with wearing a med ID tag, I will be much more relaxed once it is here and on his collar, lol.

And thanks for reminding me about supporting this site as well, I will not forget to do so. Whenever I get a little extra I plan on doing the individual donations. :-D
