Me vs. BS (Bubble in the syringe)

Thought I'd ask if there are any hidden tricks from keeping bubbles out of the syringe? My Vet didn't tell me about adjusting the syringe to the dose you're about to give then stick it in the bottle release air inside then pull out your dose. or does it matter? Thought this would be an interesting topic.

Hi Michelle,
I put a little air in the syringe before I put it in the bottle. Then I force the air into the vial by pushing hard to get out most of the air. I think others have other methods. Here are a couple of links about air bubbles. (They're talking about Lantus, but some of the ideas would work with PZI/ProZinc.)

That is exactly how our vet told us to do it, and we did. I don't think I ever got an air bubble with PZI, honestly. Lantus, OTOH, with the cartridges and how you can't inject air into them...I have no idea how many units of Lantus I have wasted due to air bubbles and having to eject almost the entire dose. :-x
