miriam, i share your frustration. do i ever wish we had the option of a threaded view, but we don't. from what i understand threaded view is not and will never be an option on this "new" board. "jill's post" (referred to earlier) is simply the "cleaning up LL" post written by jojo from the old board with minor revisions made to accommodate this format. however, nothing in set in stone. our primary concern is about the cats. getting help to those who need it, providing support, and answering questions is why we're here. if there's a better way to accomplish this, let's do it!
personally, i have a bigger problem with the original poster editing the BODY of their first post of the day. when i come on late, i often wonder what i missed and if it's pertinent to what is happening now. imho, the ONLY thing to be edited in the first post of the day by the OP is the subject line.
i don't think the subject line will hold all numbers from both AM and PM cycles for most people. unless we can come up with a better solution, i think you'll probably have to edit the AM cycle numbers out when you post the PM numbers. before reading through a thread, the first thing i do when i enter a condo is click on the kitty's spreadsheet link. if each poster keeps their spreadsheet up-to-the-minute... it will really help.
speaking of the BODY of posts... contrary to popular belief, there is no prize for the longest condo. :mrgreen:
quoting from jojo's original post:
"* posts focus should be about the cat, not the bean. there is a community forum or the LL back up board for that. we have vast knowledge of carmelita, what she eats, her energy levels, her coat, her sensitivity to stress, etc. etc. but know nothing about greg except there is a mrs. greg and that they have nice breakfasts, nor do we need to. shouldn't know more about bean than cat. also do not need to know about a bean's social life except how it impacts diabetic cat management.
* don't make your thread longer than it needs to be. no need to comment back to each person that posts in your condo with an individual post, you CAN combine more than one thought in one post.
* recaps. they are nice."
weekly/monthly threads... i'd like to offer a strictly personal opinion. i think they would be wonderful IF the threads were all about business and diabetic kitty business only. all comments, cheerleading, and social stuff would be on the backup board or in the Community Forum on this board so as not to clutter an already lengthy thread. i do see benefits to weekly or monthly threads. if they were kept to diabetic kitty business they would become in essence "case studies". case studies can be very educational to others... for years to come. however, if we were to do that, the social aspect would be missing here. sometimes caregivers need a hug or an encouraging word.
fwiw, i see both pros and cons to weekly or monthly threads.
