Max has not seemed to feel well this afternoon, just offered him 2 different kinds of canned food and he just sniffed and got back in his bed. If he doesn't eat, I can't give his evening shot (Vetsulin) what to do?? I'll be back at work tomorrow....

He won't even eat a piece of tuna

I can't comment as to what to do as I'm not familiar with Vetsulin. But if it were Goof, and his BG was that high, I'd feel safe giving him .50 (or a smidge less)of insulin whether he ate or not, but only if I could be there to monitor. But, I'm very familiar with how he reacts to ProZinc.

Do try to get the ketone test. Has he eaten anything?
He did earlier in the day, he had really loose stools, but his sister does too the last couple of days, they are really having a time adjusting to only canned food!

i know with Betsulin, they are supposed to have food "onboard" at least 30 prior to shot time

Typo, Vetsulin

I'm not really familiar with vetsulin either, but I worry about him not eating and having such high BG. Could you force feed him enough to be able to shoot? I mix some canned food with water to make a slurry and use a syringe

Yeah, I had some pretty "squirty" cats too while trying to switch them to canned only. I gave up and feed a mix of Evo dry and Friskies canned. The Evo is one of (the most affordable for me) the three lower carb dry foods, and Goof tends to be a naughty little food thief.

He is eating, finally! And pretty good too! It's 10 pm here now, so I will just test, feed and inject in the morning at 7. As usual thank yall
Hi everyone! He finally ate last night around 9:30, of course too late to shoot, so I tester this morning before work, he was 351, fed then gave him his shot. This evening after getting home, he is 152, that's 9.5 hrs after shot, he just ate and seems to feel good! His sister Maddie on the other hand had bloody diarreah this morning, they think due to changing her to canned food so abruptly, has her gut all irritated and inflamed. Poor babies! Bad mom!

Can they taste the FortaFlora? My vet gave me some pectalin powder to put on their food and they won't eat it when I do, I've even mixed it good with their food, and they still won't eat it!!

Someone please take a look at Max's SS please! I have been making the mistake of feeding then all a little when I get home from work so closer to time for Max's shot, he won't eat! So I don't give the shot ( and his numbers have been lower than a week ago) this morning before I left for work, he was at 230 so I was scared to give him a shot with me being at work all day, and he didn't have one last night either. His reading just now is 312, no food yet. I want him to eat closer to 7 so I can give him his shot this evening. So his numbers are gradually getting better, right? I have been giving him only 1 unit when he does get one. Last week he was getting 1.5

Was their previous food canned? If so mix both together and transition over time so as not to cause upset. Any chance they have a bug since both are sick?
