My 12 yo cat Max had levels of 25 mmol/l before I switched to a wet canned diet. My vet had 0 experience with Lantus (I am in Canada and my vet is a small town vet. They are still prescribing Caninsulin which I had been advised against so picked up Lantus myself at Costco after enough research) so I came here to learn all about feline diabetes. I did my own home glucose curves and found to my horror that my vet had literally no clue what she was doing. Fortunately after sticking to the Friskies meat pate flavours my dear Max has now levels of under 5.0 mmol/l consistently throughout the day!! I feel confident he just needed a diet overhaul and it seems that is enough to have saved him. I did give him insulin shots in the beginning but after following the SLGS method and his diet change I realized he wasn't needing them. HUGE thank you for this website and the forums in completely saving my sanity, money and my Max!
Is there anywhere I can sell my remaining Lantus and syringes? I am annoyed that I had to buy all this stuff and didn't need it but at least we don't need it and I didn't listen to my vet! I have 4 refills left and about 80 syringes or so
