Max won't seem to eat when I need him to, and his numbers are averaging lower even with missed shots. I am so scared of him going too low while at work during day or during night, so if in doubt, I don't shoot. @Squalliesmom or other Vetsulin users, please look at his SS and see what you think please and advise. As always, many thanks!!

He is trending lower. Is it that he won't eat at all or is just picky? Not eating can definitely lower the levels. You could give tiny doses - 0.5 or less when he is near 200 like tonight, and plan to monitor.

I know the lowering numbers can be nerve wracking but they do look good.

No I had made the mistake of letting them ear when I got home from work, since they had not had any fresh food all day. Well Max got his belly full and then would not eat closer to shot time. But his numbers I thought would have been higher with no insulin last couple of days??!

Generally yes. I thought you meant he was really off his food and not eating much at all. That can cause the levels to drop.

If he is eating well, then the levels are just good news. Sounds like you just need to adjust feeding times so he is hungry when you need him to be.

Max's numbers look great! As long as he is eating well, you can try to wean him onto a schedule that fits in with shot times. Sometimes I have had to use tiny doses, as Sue recommended, with Squallie when he is low. If you're worried about him going too low, try it first when you will be home with him and able to monitor him throughout his cycle.

He looks like a big, fluffy sweetheart! You can see love in his face. :)

I just checked him again and he is 173

im kind of excited! Tested max when I got home from work, 166! And he was running and playing with a new toy and scratching on the post!! No shot in 3 days! I know it's above the normal range, but I am so hoping his pancreas has kicked back in! What do y'all think??! @Squalliesmom @ItsMeAngie @Sue and Oliver (GA)

His numbers are nice. They are not remission numbers, but he is sometimes too low to shoot. (remission is 2 weeks in the 40-120 without insulin.). You could shoot any time he is at 200, just a smaller dose. And on a cycle you can monitor.

He may continue to come down on his own, but you may need to give him a little bit of insulin to help that pancreas.

Have you thought about a timed feeder? He *really* needs regular insulin - this is critical. I would be force feeding and shooting if I had to. Missing a shot due to not eating once in a blue moon is okay, but I think we need a group brainstorm about how to get Max hungry on time :)

Withhold food throughout the last 6 hours so he is starving for the pre-shot meal? Sprinkle parmesan or use tuna water in with the wet food? Or... what else... hmmm maybe others have ideas?

I would always be shooting those numbers around 200 too. I shot my guy his full two units at 200, but I was used to his nadirs on Vetsulin. You have the option on token doses (like a half unit) but he needs some kind of insulin. 40-120 for two weeks straight is remission and Mr. Max has only ever been in that range once. Nowhere near remission, or even regulation, yet. But he's trending down and that is soooo good to see!!! Way to go, both of you.

How exciting!

I'm able to get Devo to eat by sprinkling some salmon Pure Bites on his food - maybe this will help? OTOH, since Devo's numbers have been so good and he's not needed a shot since 11/18/2015 I test when I snag him to eat, rather than the previous strict schedule of 7am & 7pm. ~an hour, not more.

Devo tested at 131 day before yesterday. I was a bit bummed because of the amount of days he was staying under 120... but then I learned that my youngest son had put kibble out for the cat he's keeping in his room (long story) and left the door open. So I'm sure Devo got into it which makes me thrilled that the number was 131 and not higher.

Keep up the good work! You both are doing great!
