Max Glucose Curve from Saturday

Max's SS is updated with his curve from Saturday. We were late coming home from dinner Saturday evening, so the last number before the PMPS is about an hour off. I did manage to stay up long enough to get a 5 hr PMPS, though. I also added Sunday's data and his reading from this morning. I think last night might have been a fur shot. I felt it go in, but his fur was a bit wet after. Not sure what happened! This morning's number was higher again, though, so that might be why. Grrrrr... :-x

Oh, one last thing. I kept him in the bathroom last night to check for ketones in the litterbox and noticed that his poop is almost black!!! Is this normal? I took a picture of the poop and will post if need be.

Save the pic for now! Was it runny or normal?

Should be ok then. If you continue to see hard stools, you can add a liitle warm water to his canned food to avoid constipation.

My little man had dark black solid poop for a little while and have now turned into light brown piles of smelly mush - his turned black and began progressing to what we have now after we changed his diet from dry to wet food, have you changed your cat's diet recently? Don't know if it's related, just saw the black poop mention and wondered if it's a diet thing?

Most changes in texture and color would most likely be due to diet changes. Also with how much water is being consumed. That's for normal to hard stools. If you see runny or extra smelly poop, that could be all sorts of stuff going on. With diarrhea comes the possibility of dehydration as well, so if it continues, keep an eye on that.

Re the spreadsheet - very nice cycles on 5/12 and 5/13. It looks like it took him a while to settle into that .75 dose but that it is doing well now. I'd stick with it a few more cycles (especially with the fur shot possibility) and see if he moves down more.

Hello, my kitties' poop turned black when they consumed lots of FF chicken or turkey classics. One of them had awful, smelly diarrhea when fed FF chicken with beef - some cats are allergic to beef. Diarrhea cleared in a day or day and half when he stopped eating FF. I stopped feeding FF because I was concerned that blood could not easily be seen in black poop, if that ever happened. The same cat tends to get diarrhea when fed lots of fish.

FDMB Health forum recently had info that plain unflavored Aloe Vera juice worked for panceratitis in kitties. I add it to my cats' food as (hopefully) an aid in general digestive health but it's early days, yet. No conclusions drawn.

Best wishes,
Sophie
