Hello girls,

Just to let you know, I tested and Markies gc is 43. He shows nor symptoms.

I gave canned whyskas and some whiskas pouch with gravy.

I will keep you posted.

Silvi

I guess we earned a reduction? Do you think I should add honey now? or wait a little to see how whiskas impacts?

Wait and see where he is in half an hour - I'll be watching out so you can take down the 911 for now and raise it again then if you need to.

Yes on the reduction.

How much food did you give? Remember you don't want to give too much in case you need to keep him eating for a while. Also what type of canned Whiskas are you using, they're not all HC

ETA and please update your spreadsheet

Excellent, thank you. How far off the 30 min test are we?

Is that tin a loaf variety or the casserole type? And how much of each did you give Markies?

what´s is ETA? I know this canned whiskas is médium not high carbs. Im not sure if the pouch is higher. Has some jelly gravy.
Pouch says has corn starch, and salmon flour

+7.5 went up to 60
Im so nervous that Im making a mess with my answers an dont know how to paste pictures

Tee hee hee deep breaths, you've got this. The picture posting was fine we just don't ave that particularly type of Whiskas here.

ETA is edited to add - it means I posted already but then went back and added that part.

60 is good, no more food and test again in 30 mins. I will stay with you until Markies is safe so no stressing ok :)

The pouch sounds like HC with the corn starch.

How much of each did you give for the 43?

Let´s see a table spoon of canned whiskas and a table spoon of pouch. It was like a normal meal.

He was still hungry, he requested for more after testing.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING THERE!!!

You're welcome :) see you for the next test - don't forget to update your subject line as well so it's easy for me to see you've done it - so many kitties going low right now I'm getting dizzy!

Sorry dear to bother, reduction will take his dose from 1.5 to 1.25?

I will have to leave home in 30 minutes, this is crazy, every time I have something important we have this episodes. I can delay my departure, when shold be next feeding? Should be low carb or could be canned whiskas? (since I will be out)

You're not a bother at all.

Yes for the reduction to 1.25.

Let's see what his +8 is before we decide what to leave out. Will he eat it all straight away or maybe leave some for later? How long after +8 is it that you need to leave, how long could you possibly delay, and how long will you be gone for?

You've got to stop telling him when you have plans, they do like to mess them up ;)

haha you are right!!!

Well, Im supposed to be now at my mom´s house. I can leave in 15 minutes. He is now +8 (90). I didn´t see your message and I already fed him. Gave some chopped pork.
Will wait 15 minutes expecting he doesn´t vomit. Then leave. I will be out for about 2 hours (will be back at +10.5 aprox.

I think we are ok. 90 is a good number even if he keeps dropping a little more. What do you think?

Silvi

Yay for only being gone about 2 hours because that's usually about how long the HC lasts. Numbers are good but just to be sure the food already given doesn't wear off and he drops right back down I would give just two teaspoons of HC (the Whiskas with the cornstarch, I think that's the pouch) right before you go :)

Also don't forget the option to "shoot through the bounce" in the morning. If his numbers are all the way up into the pink I would shoot the 1.5 dose ONE more time.

yes I remember that, I imagine he will bounce so if he is over 300 I will shoot same dose and start the reduced dose tomorrow.
Thank you dear!!

Well dears,
Everything was very smooth here. I didn´t need to shoot through the bounce, so I already started the new dose. I hate 0.25 units since it´s more difficult to find the exact dose between marks. But anyway, IM SO HAPPY!!! We earned a reduction a few days ago so he is doing great!!

Thank you so much for your help!

Silvi

Silvi...when you're on those .25 doses, take one syringe and use some kind of colored water to fill it to what YOU think 1.25 is...then when you're trying to get the insulin at 1.25, you have something to compare to so you can be as consistent as possible

Congratulations on the reduction!!

Thank you Chris!!!

I actually use the magnifier to better view. I tried that colored water but then when it´s time to charge the syringe it´s like starting from scratch.

But the magnifier is my best friend!!
