Hi, This is Marcy aka Mars72.

I've been following Pam and Ally's progress, which has been very exciting...we're still finishing up our last vial of ProZinc. I called my vet to get the process of switching to Lev started. She is on maternity leave and the vet that did Klinger's dental is not familiar with Lev. She has referred me to another vet that has just started using Lev on a drooler. I have to set up an appt with her.
So, what's the best form for me to ask her to write the rx for as far as vial, cartridge, pen??? I've only used a vial with PZ and I'm not familiar with the differences and what would be the best option for us.

Thanks,
Marcy & Klinger

Hi Marcy, the cartridges (5 of them) for levemir are not available in the USA. You would have to order them from Canada. This vet you are referring to probably prescribes the vial for dogs since they are probably on higher doses (although that might be fine for Klinger too). I have used the vial for Tigger too. You can get the flexpens (5 of them) in the states but they seem to be more expensive. Here is a thread which explains it all pretty well plus some links on where to buy the carts in Canada if you want to go that route instead. You could fax or send your vet's prescription to them. I faxed mine the last time and it worked out fine. It took a little over a week to get it though. I would wonder about it freezing though this time of year and you being in Colorado?

Pamela did a great job answering you about the carts/vials/pens thing, Marcy. FYI, I order mine from Canadadrugsonline.com and did not have nay problem with it last winter. They shipped in a heavy styrofoam container. They also assured me if it was bad on arrival, they would replace it.

however, if you have access to it by pharmacy and it is in your budget, it might be suggestable to get your first one local.

I don't know how much is in a vial, but it may be too much and waste before you can use it all.

Will be watching for your start! Good luck!
