Marbles went to kitty heaven today. When we got to the vet this morning, she was in critical condition (the vet was surprised she went downhill so fast from when she last saw her on Saturday, and that the IV fluids, anti-nausea shot they gave her yesterday at the emergency vet didn't improve her condition at all). After a few tests and multiple conversations as to what else it could be/what we could do for her, it still wasn't clear why Marbles' health was failing. The IV fluids were not helping, and with the vet's support I made the difficult decision to let her go as it was evident she probably wouldn't make it through the night.
I'm so glad that I got a little over 8 years with my sweet kitty, but devastated that she was so determined to leave me. Thank you to all the wonderful people on this forum who talked me through the diabetes diagnosis, insulin treatments, and of course the last few days during Marbles' decline. This has been a very emotional and difficult day for me. She was buried next her to "cousin" Peanut in my parent's backyard so I will be able to visit her often.
