It is with great sadness that I must tell my FDMB family that we had to let Mali go at 5:30pm CDT today.
Our little girl was worn out and hurting so we let her join all the furkids at the Bridge.
Mali's original dx with pancreatitis back in March, started her downhill slide from which she fought a valiant battle, but just couldn't get ahead of it and stay ahead of it. Her kidneys were in great distress and she had began to jaundice and she got very tender to touch. Although she was on fluids all night at the ER last night and all day today, her values never came down appreciably and they were very high.
DW and I held her until the end and assured her that we loved her and we would miss her, but she would be pain free now and could go and play at the Bridge with all the others before her... she agreed it was her time.

I promise this is the last time I will tug on your heartstrings after the ups and downs of the last few days.

We will miss you, Mali girl, but we know you are in a much better place now.

Once again, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for Mali the past few day. It means so much to us.

Love to all,
Robert & DW

I'm glad you and DW could be with her at the end and you know what happened. Mali was so lucky to have you as beans. Hugs to you both.
Liz

I am so sorry (((Robert and DW)))

I'm glad she is free now and playing with the others at The Bridge. She knows how much you love her and will be waiting for you two to join her one day.

I will light a candle for Mali tonight.

It was a pleasure knowing you Robert.

(((Robert and DW))) I'm so sorry. You both loved her so much and did everything you could to help her. My heart and prayers go out to you both. I, too, will light a candle.

I'm so very sorry for your loss...our furbabies are so special, and they are always in our hearts. Many prayers for you....

To Mali and family
BEYOND THE RAINBOW

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade

I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, an on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night
"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Robert I am so sorry for your loss of Mali. I am glad though that you and DW were able to be with her and comfort her at the end. Mali was very fortunate to have two beans that loved and cared for her like you and DW. We have you and DW in our Prayers.

(((Robert and DW)))

I am so sorry for your loss, Mali was a special kitty and you were very lucky to have each other. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kathie

I am so very sorry for your loss!
May memories stay close and hope you find comfort in them.
(((Hugs))))
Mali come and let your beans know you are safe!

I'm so sorry Robert. Mali was so loved by you and your DW and that came through with every post you made about her.
Your hearts hurt so much because you loved her so deeply. That is a beautiful thing.

My thoughts are with you as you miss Mali's sweet presence in your arms. ((((Robert and DW)))))

Robert, my sympathies are with you on the passing of your beloved Mali, Malibu.

She and you will be remembered here on the FDMB. We know that 17 and a half years was not long enough for this very special cat in your live. Remember her fondly.

Take care. {{{{{{{Hugs to Robert and DW}}}}}}

I promise this is the last time I will tug on your heartstrings after the ups and downs of the last few days.
I actually hope you break your promise and know that we can support you in your grief in losing Mali, as much as we supported you with your journey in this Sugardance.

Kitties are meant to pull on our heart strings, that means we care. <3

Run Free Mali, we have kittehs who will show you around :)

(((hugs)))

Deepest sympathies to your and your DW. Glad that Mali is at peace, pain free and playing with her fur friends at the bridge. It is always so hard for us left behind.

So so sorry to hear about Mali, but so glad to hear you were able to comfort her till her end. That means so much. Hoot and I are sending strength and healing vines to you and your DH ♥

(((((Robert & DW)))))

I am so sorry for your loss. I think your grieving started yesterday. I am, however, glad that you and your wife could be with Mali and let her know just how much she was loved. I don't think any of us could want for more than that.

Fly free little one. There are many who will be at the Bridge to greet you an keep you safe until the time you are reunited with the ones you love best.

Dear Robert and DW,
Mali will always dwell in that special place in your hearts that belongs to her. Fly free, sweet Mali. You will have many new friends at the Bridge. You are much loved.

In deepest sympathy,

Ella & Edward, Rusty, and Stu (GA)

(((Robert and DW))) I'm so sorry for your loss but glad that you were with her when she left for the Bridge. I hope she sends you a sign that she made it safely and is waiting for you. Thank you for sharing her and your love for her with us. wings_cat

Robert & DW

I am so sorry for your loss...
I know you loved her very much and did all you could.
I am glad you were able to say goodbye to her, and that she left in your arms.
My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about this sad news.
I don't reply your post due to my English ability, but I read Mali's ss every day, and from your posts, I can see so many love to her.
May Mali rest in peace. rb_icon

So very sorry for your loss. Letting go is one of the hardest things that us beans have to do. We all know when the time is right,
it's just so very hard on us. Thank goodness they leave us with all the special memories to help us heal.

Dear Robert and DW--I am so, so sorry that you are hurting. Know that Mali knew how much you loved her (and does know as I know she is with you in spirit). What a blessing yesterday to find her at the neighbors. She's in a place with no pain and running free in perfect health with lots and lots of new friends! She will be waiting for you and DW, and you will be reunited one day. My condolences, Kat

((((((((((Robert and DW)))))))))) I am so sorry to hear of Mali"s passing, but happy that you found her yesterday and could be there to send her on her new path.

You are right, we are family, and you will never "impose " on us when you share your heart.

Fly Free SWeet Mali! Watch over you beans from the Bridge! Let our Candles light your way!

((((Robert and DW))))) I know how hard you've worked to do everything you could for Mali from the time you joined us. Your love for her has been evident since day one here at FDMB. We all have become attached to Mali and you all will always be members of our LL family. Mali is forever with you...listen to the silence and she will speak to your heart.

Gentle Journey, sweet Mali.

I am so sorry to read of Mali's passing. I am glad that you were able to be with her at the end, reassure her, hold her. I am glad too that she let you know it was time.It is the kindest gift we can give our furkids, to let them go when they are ready, when it is their time. Having recently lost Mannie, I can so understand the loss you feel. I hope that there will be comfort in the many memories. Mali will be forever with you, tucked away on a corner of your heart. Fly free little one, you will be missed. wings_cat

So sorry for your loss. I am new here, but looks like you guys gave her very wonderful care & did everything you could do to make her better. She was lucky to have you! With my deepest sympathy, Christy.

Oh Robert and DW, I am so very sorry. You two moved heaven and earth for Mali and she tried so very hard to stay with you. You gave her the greatest gift a bean can give.. to take her pain into your heart and release her to fly free and play forever happy and healthy. I know she will send you a sign that she is happy and safe at the bridge. I hope you will come back and tell us. You will always be part of this family, you, DH and beloved Mali.

Fly free sweet Mali. Send a sign to your mom and dad. They love you so.
My deepest sympathies and prayers for your heart
mary

There are no words...the depths of this are indescribable.

Mali was a true fighter and as her beans, you kept her armor shiney and tough.

She runs free now...in the land of endless treats and sunbeams.

Many prayers of peace and comfort to you, Robert and DW.

Dear Robert, I apologize for being late in my condolences to you and your family, I simply was so devastated that I cried and closed the page. You were so kind to me about a week ago, with all you had going on, you took the time to send a note to me and I felt I'd made a new friend in you and Mali. It was a "contest" for the highest numbers as Tashie was bouncing like crazy and I felt that my AMPS / PMPS were always the highest and you pointed out Mail's SS to me. I am still such a newbie, trying to take this is day by day, lesson by lesson, experience by experience but this support group is better than my family! I know you have made many friends and I would like to continue our little "relationship" if you ever have the time. I feel so very deeply for you as I know you did everything you could possibly do and SO much more than many would even consider. Sleep in peace knowing that Mali is now a kitten playing in the clouds and watching over you - with deep love and appreciation. She will always be a part of you and, someday, when the time is right, you will meet up and she will purr and know her daddy is with her again.
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences,

Bern & Tashi

Please know that ALL of our Lantus Land family is still very close to our hearts and that we know that we will always be in the family. I have tried to stay away from the board last day or two and close the condo, but I find myself still coming back to check in and try to find peace in seeing all my friends here still going about their rituals of testing, shooting and posting. It is still hard when I look around for Mali to check her at 6:30 in the morning and she is not here. I continue to look for signs of her making it to The Bridge and I know they will come when she is ready to let me know.

Bern- Don't beat yourself up over your late condolences...when you are going about your life and tending to your baby it just takes priority and that is a good thing.

P.S. I want to make sure and get anything that can be used in "Mali's arsenal". Can someone let me know what is needed and where to send? ie; glucometers, test strips unopened meds, etc.

There is a Lantus Land Emergency Fund (LLEF). Marje and Dyana are both members. I'll make sure to let them know that you wish to donate supplies. Given the summer weather, when you're ready, there may be a member in your area who would appreciate the insulin. Lantus doesn't always travel well in the mail. Regardless, we'll make sure that a bit of Mali's legacy will be put to good use to help someone in need.
