Making my own snacks

I read somewhere, either off a post or off one of the articles I read before finding FDMB, that I can make my own snacks from meat and a dehydrator. After seeing how high in carbs the snacks are that I have, I want to make low carb ones for him. I have a dehydrator.

I want to know if anyone else does this and if I need to add anything to them before I dry them. Also, can I make them soft? He likes the soft chewy ones I buy.

I can't help you, but I would like to know myself.
I read some articles on freeze drying chicken, cause that's what my baby girl likes, but everything I found says to keep them in the freezer. I want to make them like the one;s I buy. In a bag, not cold.
Hope someone comes along soon with some good info.

Also, how would I figure how many protein, fat, carbs, and calories they would have or would it make any difference since he would only get 2-3 bits a day? (only after test between meals)

I know there are people here who use small bits of boiled chicken (I think, like the size of a dice?), as treats. No carbohydrates in chicken, almost all protein, so no worries there.

I think some people boil them, and cut them, and freeze them in portions until they need to thaw more. If you are interested I'm sure a member who does this will be able to give you advice.
