i was thinking of preparing some homemade meat snacks/meat/broth liquid for my cat (specifically turkey) but was wondering if it would be all right if i added just a little bit of olive to sear a bit prior to boiling ~ or do i just place in a pot and boil? (otherwise cooking plainly.) :cat:

as well, my cats food is potentially discontinued.. terrible. until im able to determine other tolerable protein sources, turkey it still is and did find a seemingly good food (performatrin prime turkey grain free, if anyone can share if its nice or not) but it has oregano and parlsey and sage.. kelp.. rosemary.. in it….. is this ok???? also some fish oil.. and he take a fish oil already.. some of these other foods have potato.. cranberries.. just ugh.

We've had lots of people broil or boil plain meat (no herbs) to make testing treats, or just plain treats. A tiny bit of olive oil should be OK. If you boil it, maybe save the water. Some kitties like meat flavored water, either by itself, or mixed in with their food.

Which food is being discontinued? I've got a kitty who is food limited and turkey is on her good list. Hate it when manufacturers discontinue or worse, decide it would be good to add fish to the ingredients.

:cat:.. thanks.. thats nice to hear.. might attempt this long weekend.. was gonna put a small amount in pan.. would then stretch out over the servings as well. and definitely plan on that, that was my idea on the liquid (adding to food for moisture/flavor and great to hear.. was considering if use any with bones to make bone broth too.. anyone make additional step and do bone broth for their kitties youve heard?)

how long would they stay good for might you know? 2-3 days, anyone do any freezing?

:arghh: and same…… its possible its the Merrick Limited Ingredient Turkey plus the Chicken and Rabbit wet foods lines.. cases been “out of stock”; waiting to hear back.. looking into others.. :banghead:

NO!!!! That's on my list of acceptable foods. Saw some in my local Petsmart last week though.

Absolutely OK to freeze. Chop it up into serving size chunks and freeze. Easy to get out and thaw.

Fine, unless kitty has high phosphorus. Lots of recipes out there for bone broth for cats.

i know it!! i know.. one of the better ones too. its a terrible inconvenience if honest.. terrible rn. and it seems to sell. going to see what they say because i complained in writing earlier this year that the consistencies differed between batches and NO ONE said anything on its discontinuing. :stop: i wrote back again because i called to see what was going on because it gets ordered here by the case… oh well. will see response. (Let u know :cat::blackeye:)

ooh thats great.. will try. have some glass tupperwares too for such use. and excellent.. bone broth is a great healer and nourisher. does portion/servings matter? ive always let him eat til fill/satisfied. :) will keep canned as bulk of diet tho. (?)

Merrick LID turkey is my food too! I haven’t found any evidence it’s being discontinued so far, but I know the formula changed a few months back. It’s “wetter” now. I keep hoping it’s all related and is coming back soon. *fingers crossed* In the mean time, I’ve cleared out my local petco stores and finally broke down and bought cases of the small cans because I don’t want to restart the hunt for new food :banghead::banghead:
