Maisey 36+ no juice

Now 36+ Maisey has eaten two small meals - about 1/4 can ff since 5a.m. Now 1 hour after eating she is 61 a 9 am.

Told my daughter she would absolutely have to test Maisey at least in the a.m. - Guess I should tell her no insulin unless over 200 and then just , how much? .1 or .2 or more ?

I leave Sunday for 1 week away.

I like your plan. No insulin unless over 200. If she gets up in the higher 100s, I would give her some food and see if she brings herself down.

If your daughter gets worried, she can come on and post for help.

How lovely of Maisey to go into remission numbers when you have to travel - much better than having your daughter try to figure out doses on higher numbers!

Now 48 hours out, 1 hour after good feed Cowboy cookout, Maisey is 90. Wow! flip_cat

Yay! Great #'s for Maisey. I think your approach and guideline of 200 for your daughter is good since she is inexperienced and probably can't test as much. Paws crossed she and Maisey won't need it.

Maisey 60+ still good

We are 60+ and still no insulin. Her 8am BG was 90 and she had eaten some Purnia DM in the night and had 2 small wet food meals, last was 1 hour before test.

That is really awesome!!! Just checking if the DM is dry or canned? Canned may be ok, I don't recall the carbs on that, but if it's dry I would ditch it unless she won't eat anything else. Even a couple kibbles can spike their BGs up - we see cats that have gone OTJ come back b/c their peeps don't realize the risk, and feed them a few bites every day for a while. Just checking so you don't have any unpleasant surprises. :)

The DM is dry, but on Binky's list at 13 carbs one of the few in low numbers. Petco had one from the list with only 7 carbs, so I picked it up today since I'm almost out of the DM and the Vets are going to make it something you order from their web page and have shipped to your home. All three kitties had been searching for their dry food, so I figured this was less bad than most and if they all have to share, no one will get much. I have been putting out 5 or more small servings a day of canned so it's not high on the priority list for any except Vinney, who pretty much puts his nose up to wet food, cries and backs-up away from it. It's a very funny site to see this large (not fat) 15 pound cat act the way he does. ps Vinney's fasting BG was 40.

That's a non-insulin cat getting 40? Wow, gives you some perspective on the meter. Good to know!

I'd try to keep Maisey away from the dry if you can. When Bix was on dry we used MD, d/m (I think it's maybe 1% more carbs than DM?) and tried the EVO, which at the time was the one with lower carb. He needed over 4u on those (and was still unregulated), vs. more like 1.5u on LC canned. There is controversy over whether the lower carb statement w/EVO is actually correct. I forget the details, but there was suggestion it's more like 13% carb or something.

Maybe feed in separate rooms or something?

Checked with daughter yesterday am Maisey was 110 Today was 119, so Maisey is holding her own fairly well.
