Does anyone get their insulin by mail? How is it wrapped and protected from heat?
I'd like to donate Checkers', but don't know how to protect it, without wrapping it in 5lbs of stuffing.
Does it hurt it to get banged around in transit?

Thank you Linda, I'll check the link tomorrow. The insulin doesn't expire for a very long time. I just bought it the first of June.
I'm thinking it would be better to just wait until after this horrid heat wave.

I have been receiving insulin by mail for a few years. It is sent to me, 6 bottles at a time, from Walgreens mail order service. They ship it overnight, pack it with ice packs after wrapping it in special cold wrap. They require me to sign for it so that it is not left out in the heat. I do live on the desert and have not had a problem although i tend not to order during the heat of the summer. It is, of course, more expensive but fortunately, for me, they pay the shipping on this. This is, of course, my personal insulin and it is covered by insurance.

Although I use Humalog for my pump, they have shipped me Lantus like this as well since it is my back up insulin. They use the same method for all insulins.

I always check it immediately to be sure the ice packs are still somewhat frozen and that the insulin is cold.
