Hi all. My husband and I have different opinions on how to draw the insulin regarding exact measurement. I line the plunger up witk the mark I need. So, if I view the needle horizontal, the plunger is flush with the mark. My husband seems to make his doses "fatter". He lines up the plunger just under the mark on syringe. I saw a pic on the internet and this method was used. I need help. My husband has been drawing up the insulin last four days and her BG seemd to be running lower. She will not leave the bathroom. Have no idea what is going on with her.

Are you testing before every shot? I'm just asking because your spreadsheet has almost no numbers on it.

The main thing is that you are consistant with your doses. If you want to call flush with the line 1 unit, or you want to call just under the line 1 unit, it's okay, just make them the same each time.
Personally, and I think most people do it this way, is we call flush with the line 1 unit and just under the line a fat 1 unit.

Thankyou! That is what I thought. I tell my husband he is making it fat. I prefer it flush with the line. Kitten has issues and that is why the SS is blank. Everytime we get her in a good place to get ready to test.. Disaster happens like her most horrible night last night. When I check my insulin mark, i turn it sidways and hold it over my lightsource. I like the plunger flush with the syringe mark so they "are one" you could say.
