Lung issue with our civvie

We have to take our civvie, Midgie, to a specialist later this week for a CT scan. Out vet found something that looks like a mass in her left lung. (I've been posting about it over on the Community board)
So far her only symptom is that she's breathing a bit heavier than normal. The only time she's ever panted or open-mouth breathing is when she was in the car on the way to the vet (not quite 10 minutes away).

The specialist is over 30 minutes away and Midgie is going to be very distressed by the time we make the drive. With the lung issue, I'm wondering if there is anything more effective than Rescue Remedy that is safe to give her that might sooth her a bit?

Feliway sprayed on towel in carrier.

Leaving carrier out with comfy towel to hang out in, to get used to carrier.

Systematic desensitization where you do small training sessions with the carrier and build on them to get a travel hardy cat (needs more time than a few days)

desensitization
"To train/desensitize to travel:

Start by leaving the carrier out and open at all times, in a pleasant location - near a window, for example.
Spritz it with some Feliway (friendly facial pheromones).
Put the occasional toy in there, or some catnip.

Now, begin acclimating the cat to being in it for periods of movement.

Shut the door, lift it up, and move it a few feet.
Treat with low carb treats
Repeat several times during the day

Once that is tolerated fairly well, increase the distance a foot or so.
Repeat the process.

Add in going outside, then returning indoors.

Then add in placement in a car, then returning.

Add in turning on the car.

Add in a short distance.

Increase distance/time a little bit each week."

She loves the carrier. As soon as we bring it out, she'll crawl in and hang out/sleep in there until we put it away again. Its the car that gets her. As soon as we close the car door, she starts yeowling.

I'm going to pick up some Feliway and try that.

Thanks

Maybe try to cover the carrier with a towel or sheet while in the car so she can't see as well. That can help. So can putting it on the floor board- less movement. That is what I have heard. I really hope your appt goes well and it is nothing serious.

I always play Bob's favorite(well, mine) music for the ride. He doesn't care if I am off key singing along, and he sings backup.
Hope you hear encouaging news.
