I found a lump under my cat's chin yesterday half way back so not right at the edge, it feels softish and i have seen her scratch it, so not sure if it's an abscess or not, see a sore and also it seemed to hurt her when i touch it. I am trying coconut oil on it but what else can i try before thinking of a vet visit? She doesn't eat out of plastic, just stainless steel bowls that get washed every time we add new food. I was thinking it may be due to a food allergy as she was put on friskies' and fancy feast at the end of May due to her diabetes.

I would get any lump around that area checked out by the vet. It could be a cyst or something harmless but bette to get it checked while it is small

thanks, i asked at my vets and they said to wipe it and put polysporin on it, didn't seem that it was serious. It does seem to be feeling softer and seems to be draining a bit, so hope it continues to do this and shrink- will take her to a vet if it gets worse or doesn't go away but will see how it goes this week, we've spent a lot on her this year and want to avoid a vet visit if we can. It's not bothering her at all, only seems to hurt when i touch it, i get the odd cyst so know how they can hurt!

Please do not use polysporin on your cat. Some cats have a severe allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in polysporin when they ingest it.. Your vet should know this. If you do a Google search, you'll come up with this information. We used to recommend either Neosporin or polysporin and no longer do so.

ok, sure, what is good to use? i like to use natural stuff and only a little bit- saline and coconut oil rubbed in. what is natural that is safe if it bursts? would Vetericyn be okay as i can get that near me?

@Catnut
Is this what you would want to use if it bursts

Hi Sienne I was wondering what your thoughts are about what Tammy might want to use on Truffles it bursts from reading about it and the ingredients it looks safe

i can't buy online and I'm in Canada but a store not far from me has the second one you listed. What is a safe natural product i can use as i have some i use for myself? - i looked and witch hazel doesn't seem safe enough and i have calendula cream but haven't looked if that is safe yet.

I'll tag Sienne again and a few other members to take a look at the one you can get

it doesn't seem to be draining now, just doing saline and coconut oil twice a day, feels soft.

So you haven't taken her to the vet to be sure it's a cyst, I know you stopped using polysporin

Like Sienne said above
