We have a vet appointment tomorrow and I wonder what you all might think about Lucy's spreadsheet and her glucose levels the past few weeks. The vet wanted us to stay on two units of lantus for at least two weeks. When we first increased to two units Lucy's glucose levels went up a bit and then decreased and have been pretty steady at two units but they are still too high at the moment. Thank you.

Hi Voula

I am a newbie so can't really give you much advice but it is great that you are testing. When you give Lucy her evening shot could you possibly get a +1 or +2 reading as well. That can tell you quite a lot about how the cycle is going to go.

With regards the numbers from looking at her spreadsheet it seems to me that she is getting used to the lantus and her numbers have settled into the yellows nicely but as you say perhaps not quite low enough yet. If under advice from the vet you do decide to increase I would only increase by 0.25 of a dose as recommended on the forum. Vets often advice to go up by whole units of half units but then you may miss the best dose for Lucy.

I don't know if you are following the start low and go slow protocol but here is the link. It contains dosing advice

anyway you are doing really well and I am sure more experienced members will be able to help you more with dosing advice. :-D

Thank you so much. Yes I should do more testing after the PM dose. Thank you for the caution to increase slowly by 0.25 unit a time and I will only increase by that amount each time as I am too anxious to increase by 0.5 unit. I will look at the link you sent.

Hi hon! Would have to agree with the other poster that recommends a test or 2 after pm shot, it helps to see what they're doing. Don't know what time you shoot, but maybe you can get a +2 and/or +4 before bed.

Other than that, seems she has settled in to 200's with a 300 thrown in for good measure, vet will probably suggest an increase. SLGS is less stressful I think, adjust by .25 for a few days, then reconsider up or down until you find her 'sweet spot'. :)

You and Lucy are doing well, hang in there. cat_pet_icon

Thank you Deb so much. I have been on a late morning and late night dosing schedule but am working towards an earlier one so I can get some tests done after the PM dose. It Is great to have your input and I agree we will have to increase the dose and I will do it in a small 0.25 unit increase when we do it.

Yeah I think you are going to need to take her up another .25u, but at least she has a really nice flat curve so it is easy to see that she just needs a little more. :-D
