So I think we may have found the right dose now. He seems to be doing well! PS's are still not where I want them but I'm not expecting too much till he gets his dental done.

If anyone wants to look at his SS and let me know what you think, that would be great! I've been slowing down on testing because one, the strips are getting expensive and two, I have family in town!

I'd like to see the numbers a little lower, like some greens mid-cycle. I'm not real patient, lol. When's the dental? Be sure you are testing for ketones in the mean time!

Have fun with your company! I know when people visited me when I was trying to get Bix regulated, they pretty much left in a huff, lol. Oh well, kitty needed his tests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's very possible that he saw greens yesterday and the day before. I just wasn't here to check him during that time!

Today, I'm not sure what happened. His PMPS was no higher than it has been but his #'s were higher throughout the cycle. I fed him the lowest carb food I had in the pantry just because I didn't like where his #'s were. I'm trying to log food but it's hard to get to the computer right after and then I forget.

His dental is on the 12th (possible 1-3 extractions). Not looking forward to the bill

Ketone testing is tricky. If I ever saw him go to the litter box, I would do it every day lol But, Lucky is a sneaky one.

Oh, and of course my family is all the time asking me, "didn't you just check him?" and "you are checking him again?". My grandmother's cat was diabetic and was on insulin for years. She didn't do hometesting and all that jazz. She just gave him insulin 2x a day and even reused needles....she doesn't understand the way I do things! She just went by what her vet told her and in her defense, she was on fixed income and alone but she loved that cat and went into debt with vet bills to help him. She did feed him wet food though :-D

Hmmm, puzzling his #s are going up, darn ohmygod_smile seems to be a theme lately. One thing that is tricky is that sometimes when they get out of the greens their insulin needs go up really fast. Some cats seem to be able to kind of hover in blues and low yellows and you can nudge their dose up or down to get greens that you want but not risk lower numbers, but many cats seem to have more of an all or nothing reaction to the insulin. For them (probably the majority from what I have seen), if you lose the greens, you really have to work sometimes to get back to them, when it seems like it ought to be easy. That is one reason we have a hard time I think giving advice here - you don't want to risk hypo of course, but also if you take a "safer" route with the dose, they can end up stuck in higher numbers and needing more insulin to get down. It's a pain.

Don't know if that is what is going on with him or if it's something else, but in any case I'm glad you raised the dose a little. Hopefully that will do the trick in a cycle or two. He did get a nice drop today, you just need some lower PSs now to work with I think to get back to greens.
