My 11 year old cat tested at 42 at 8:15 this morning. He was on dry kibble his whole life and when I switched him to wet he did refuse to eat for over 24 hours. He finally ate yesterday 2 times and this morning. I fed him at 7:30 am today. I normally inject him 3.5units at 8:30. I have not injected him today because of this reading. He was reading HI while on the kibble. Can someone tell me what to do PLEASE.
 
You did the right thing not giving the shot since he was at 42. That is very low. I suggest that you test him again to make sure the number has risen to a safer level.

It would be very helpful if you would add a signature with basic info like what kind of insulin he is on and what type of meter you are using. Also, you need a spreadsheet to record his test results and the doses you have given him. These items are extremely important when you post asking for help, so it is worth taking a few minutes to set them up. I saw on your other thread that assistance was offered with the spreadsheet, so jump on that offer, if you need assistance!

If you just changed him to low-carb wet from dry food, his glucose levels have probably dropped just from that, so it is very important that you monitor his glucose. It sounds like you are probably going to need to drop that dose.

When you need help or have questions, please post them on the Main Health Forum instead of here in the introduction forum. You will get a lot more attention a lot quicker.
 
I don't see another post and just wanted to be sure your kitty is doing alright. If you haven't already, retest BG now and feed your cat a bit of food if BG is still low. If still low, feed a bit more and retest again. Wash repeat until this BG is staying in safe range (above 50 on a human meter and above 68 on a pet meter) without having to feed him.

ETA You need to get his BG up now. Do you have any medium carb wet food? If not mix a few drops of honey or karo syrup into the low carb wet food and give him a tsp or 2.

you see if he will eat a bit more. Is this a human or pet meter? When was his last shot? How many hours ago? What insulin is it? If you have a little gravy food I would give about a tablespoon of it. What was his number last night when you shot?

He got 3.5 units last night at 8:30 pm
he is currently eating wet friskies with some honey in it
it is a human meter
