For the 2nd time in the past 3 days Abby's preshot BG has been low. I tested her at the usual time & it was 65. Waited 30 mins (without food) & tested again. It had come up a bit to 79. Both BG's were lower than her nadir 6 hours ago. Obviously, I didn't shoot!!
What do I do now & what does this mean?? Both these BG's are lower than Abby has ever been before!
@Merlin , If you are available, can you comment? Or can anyone else to advise me what to do!
Thanks,
Louise

Hey Louise. I just happened to have logged on. What a wonderful number. Yep don't shoot. Usually when we see this, it could be due the pancreas starting to work again. It may only last for a few hours or half a day before the numbers start to rise again. It is like the pancreas is sputtering and is trying to kick start. Abby may be very high tomorrow morning due to being lower than what she is used to (but still in safe numbers) and of course the pancreas not working full time yet. This is a great problem to have and one that is perplexing at times. If you could, go ahead and feed since it may take a while for her numbers to go up, plus it will really mess up your schedule. Then if you could catch a test before bedtime just to see if and how fast he is coming up. Oh and one more thing, glad you tested a few times just to ensure that the first test was not wonky.

I will also be sending you a proposed sliding scale her shortly too. Stay tuned.

As Cindi says, it may be that her pancreas is helping out. Another possibility when the cycle is over 12 hours and they are continuing to drop at +12, it's an indication that the dose is too high. Overall, her pre shots are lowering. She was in the Reds for a few cycles, but now in the pinks or lower.

If she were mine, I would lower the dose for 350-380 range and give 2.25 for those (2.5 seems to be fine for the 400+). Definitely skip tonight. Cindi's sliding scale will give you some guidance in shooting.

@Merlin & @Sue and Oliver (GA)
Wow, her pancreas may be starting to work again? Hadn't anticipated that!
Thanks for your advise. Will check out Cindi's sliding scale.
Will test Abby in a few hours as I fed her after her last test.
Speaking of feeding, up until the last few days, I had been feeding Abby about every 2 hours. I'm now trying to make her wait at least 3 hours. Could that have had an influence on her BG's being lower preshot??

Sometimes frequent meals mean higher numbers; sometimes it doesn't seem to make any difference. It's that darn Every Cat is Different thing. I'd put it in your comments section and see if the change persists.
