You will need to monitor her closely today too, I think. That's a lower AMPS number than you have shot before.

I’m seeing that you shot 1.5u this morning and I hope that is an error. She earned a reduction and so her dose should be 1u.
I’d also suggest that you do not “prefill” the SS unit columns as doses do change when we least expect.
Thank you, Bhooma and @Judy and Freckles . Great job ladies.yes, that is an error on account of the pre-filled SS. she shot 0.75 this morning.

I'm sorry I'm late catching up...work/appointments...ugh...
I was just wondering if you've posted on the ProZinc Forum? https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/forums/prozinc-pzi.24/
I'm not familiar with Prozinc either...I hope there's more support for your questions in that forum ... and that your kitty is safe now...

When you hit “reply” to a specific comment and it posts the reply box in the text box, then just write your comment after that. You don’t need to hit “post reply” and then start a new text box. If you do the latter, it gets confusing as to what and to whom you are replyingYes it was I forgot to change it it fixed it
For info, in one of Eliz's earlier posts she said that, because Lucy's numbers have been improving so much lately and based on Eliz's experience of using other PZI insulins, if she was treating a cat with those numbers she would feel more comfortable giving a greater reduction than the 0.25IU advocated in the FDMB Prozinc Dosing Guide.I’m not sure who suggested you reduce to 0.75u as I couldn’t find that
Thanks, Mogs.Hi Marje,

@8catsplus2 I’m not sure who suggested you reduce to 0.75u as I couldn’t find that but Bhooma was correct that the dose reduction should have been 0.25u and you shot 1.25u last night. Perhaps whoever suggested the 0.75u was thinking of one of the depot insulins but, with ProZinc, you would have just gone back to 1u. I’d suggest shooting 1u tonight.
The suggestions for you to move to the ProZinc forum are excellent as well as reading the dosing methods there. If you are home 24/7, you could do the modified PZ dosing which would allow you to make dose changes a little more frequently, as needed, instead of holding a dose a long time that just isn’t quite getting her into normal numbers.
So why did she drop lower last night on 1.25u? Possibly because of absorption which can vary up to 50%. Possibly because syringes are so inaccurate. Possibly because after a couple cycles at 1u, a little extra insulin at 1.25u jump started her a bit. We really won’t definitively know. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 1u won’t be enough insulin, though. But...never say never!
I found the post I should have done 1u not .75. With little to no sleep I read it wrong .. I had to eye ball it so she got a little more than .75
She was at 198 30 minutes ago so should I stick with the one unitNo worries! Happens to the best of us! You can go back up to 1 unit tonight as Marje suggested.
ETA: It's half past midnight here and I'm headed to bed. If you have any issues during the day or need help with PM dosing, just post here and tag Marje, Elizabeth, Mogs and Deb.
See you tomorrow!![]()
