If you can compare the 2 meters for the next 2 tests (with the strips you've got for your main meter) then we can let this cycle run as normal. If the strips for your old meter aren't good, then I think we do need to abort the cycle to make sure he's safe.
Hmm I seem to be missing some posts I gather you have another meter and strips there, is that right? Also could you please update his spreadsheet or post a list of the results you have and what you did (eg drop of syrup, tsp HC etc) since the +1
At+2.5 gave him canned low carb with 1.5 mm honey that took it to 77 at the he got just low carb wet food+3 he went down to 43 and I gave him more low carb and 1.5 mm honey again
You can put additional data in the test cells on the spreadsheet, e .g. If you take a test at +2.5 put @ +2.5 48 and then color the cell the appropriate color by clicking on the drop down arrow next to the icon on the top tool bar that looks like a little paint tin being poured. You can put more than one number in a cell on the spreadsheet too e.g if you took a +3 and a +3.5 they would go in the same cell and you then manually color the cell using the paint tin icon.
OK - sorry to go missing for a few minutes there...Michael reminded me we'd forgotten to give our CKD girl her fluids!
The good thing is that your old meter is reading close to the new one so you can use the numbers from that as a good guide until you can get more strips for the ReliOn.
Bouncing is OK if he really is, though you might need to check him again yet to make sure it wasn't just the honey.
We usually get her fluids done much, much earlier - I just blanked on it needing doing today as it's twice a week not every day! Hopefully Magellan's going to stay up a bit for you now - sometimes a bounce can be a good thing!
I'm with April I think we'd better test some more before declaring a bounce but I'm hoping that's what it is! Spreadsheet is becoming clearer to me now I think still test again in half an hour since he hasn't been holding the raises and if he's holding or significantly higher there will probably be just one more test after that for tonight.
You're doing a great job. I'll tell you how to perfect the spreadsheet later if you like but for now it does provide a clear picture of what's happening - thank you
DO NOT GIVE INSULIN TOMMOROW UNTIL YOU SPEAK TO YOUR VET.
I like the idea of changing to lantus but I think a very low starting dose will be called for to be safe, maybe .5 units. Hopefully your vet has experience with lantus but there's also a whole sub board of us in the lantus/levemir insulin support group forum. Even if your vet does have some experience I doubt he'd know as much about lantus as the people there
As long as he's prepared to learn, that's what really matters. I'm sure he'll get to be familiar with the way Lantus works soon enough - with your help.
Direct him to the lantus/levemir insulin support group forum. The stickies (posts stuck to the top) of that forum will teach him all about lantus.
My vet hadn't used lantus before I insisted on it for Vyktor either, it's good for them to add new (and better) options to their selections, the best vets are the ones that keep learning and don't assume they can't learn anything from their clients
That sounds like him Dr Sonny Randhawa is his mane and he is at companion clinics. I love watching the OTJ party shows keeps my spirits up, will direct doc to the info at first I think he will just want to read it all over if you understand?
@Vyktors Mum - will you be able to watch the next couple of tests please? It's heading for 4am here (for Julia too of course, but I really don't want to leave her on her own and I'm starting to fall asleep).
I have not used Novalin but I've heard it's very harsh. Vyktor started on canninsulin/vetsulin which is also pretty harsh and lacks duration - not good!
It occurs to me you wouldn't know what surfing means either - that means sailing along at pretty much the same level.
If you have any lavender oil it's great for headaches if you massage it in to your temples. Also have some water or something in case it's dehydration - we sometimes forget to look after ourselves when there's low numbers going on
Yes I do have lavender oil and I love it as it really works on stress and I have been drinking water on and off all night as it is very warm here temps are running about 70 degrees
Jim my Bf is talking taking me to a chiropractor the first of the month, that and a massage. I guess the meaning of surfing from content and thanks for making sure .
