can anyone recommend a low carb ( to insure Davidson stays in remission ) wet food that is High in fibre.......I don't want the Vet's food as too high in carbs and they have no idea about dietary needs of diabetic cats, and even tho Davidson is in remission I don't want to risk it.......

Thanks for any input

Hi Shawna, I give my non-diabetic cats a tiny sprinkle of crushed flax seed (people quality) and it's eliminated their constipation issues. I also give 2 of mine probiotics to help with it.

On the "Where Can I Find?" there is a section on digestive problems, which includes discussions on constipation. That's where I got the info on giving probiotics. I looked up the flax seed and it's supposed to be 5% carbs, so should be ok for a diabetic cat. I started very small and worked up until they seemed to be at the right amount. I share a pinch once a day between 2 cats, so it's a very small amount.

Nice to see you and hear that Davidson is still in remission! That's great news.

Thanks Julie and Wendy. Harley seems okay the last couple of days, I added 2 litter boxes spaced apart, give him pumpkin mixed with FF (he doesn't like it) and smaller portions more often thru the day since I'm home lots. I will still give them both some fiber food and monitor closely.

Talk in a month when it's Davidson's 3 year remission BDay.
