Low blood glucose

Hello everyone, I have a 7-kg male cat. I also made a post about him around two months ago — at that time he weighed about 6 kg. I wasn’t able to check his blood glucose for about a month. Back then his Lantus dose was 12 units.
A few days ago I tested him again and his blood sugar before the injection was 80, which seemed very low, so I reduced the dose to 11 units. Then I saw it stayed around the same level, so I lowered it to 10. Now I tested again and it was 70, so I reduced it to 9.
What do you think I should do? Should I suddenly lower the dose by several units, or reduce it gradually step by step?

He was diagnosed with diabetes about 8 months ago and he gets Lantus every 12 hours and he’s doing well overall, just a bit lethargic since he developed diabetes, and his appetite is high.

Original thread: 12u lantus doesn't work :'(

OP lives in Iran where vet care and diabetic supplies and suitable cat food seem to be limited.

Which dosing protocol are you following? Tight Regulation or Start Low Go Slow? Both are described here Sticky - Dosing Methods: Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) & Tight Regulation (TR)

Insulin dose changes are generally made in half unit increments, not whole units and never several units at a time.
The vet told me the doses I didn't start with this forum protocol

Depends on the size of the dose. When the dose gets to 10 units, we move to 1 unit changes at a time. Between 5 and 10 units you can make changes by 0.5 units at a time.

On your previous thread, you said you are giving two shots a day. Can you please fill in the U column (for units) after the PMPS cell. That is column P in your spreadsheet. Otherwise it looks like you are just giving one shot per day, which doesn't work well with Lantus. For each shot you should be testing before you shoot, to make sure it's safe to give insulin.

The spreadsheet is also missing days. I see 2/25 and 2/27, but no 2/26 or 2/24. Because Lantus is a depot style insulin, the effects are cumulative over time. So we need to see all the data.

Are you still feeding dry food? If so, then you would use the SLGS or start low go slow dosing method, and you reduce when he goes under 90.
