Low 68 before pmps

Fifi is 4.7 @ +11.5
Should i stall and check in half hour and then of above 5 (90) feed and shoot the drop?

If you stall, remember to not feed Fifi.

I'm a veteran of TR. I would shoot. Since you're more familiar with SLGS, if you're more comfortable stalling, that's absolutely fine. (Do you have HC food and strips on hand and can you monitor?)

Hi thanks for your reply. I can check a lot today and have some high carb food? Happy to shoot. Should I feed and shoot the drop? I’ll just check her now again and post

She is still 4.7 half hour later

This is entirely your call. If you feel confident about steering the numbers with food if they start to drop, it's fine to shoot. Just an FYI, even though Fifi is on a drop of insulin, I don't think she's ready for an OTJ trial. If her numbers are dropping, you want to prop them up with HC food.

I also think you may want to start using approx. 8% carb food so she doesn't keep signaling for reductions.

Yes I feel if I skip she gets higher
I can check well today. What food would you recommend she is having fancy feast pate right now and in have about a weeks worth.

You don't have to abandon what you're currently feeding entirely. I think it's simply until things level off without the low numbers and bouncing up to pinks. A slightly higher carb food may help to level things off.

I'm going to tag @Bron and Sheba (GA) since she knows more about what cat food is available in Australia.

Ok thanks. The pate range she is on now I can keep 3 days and change the others as I can take them back. They are 0-2% carbs on the food sheet.

I'd save them for a while. It does look like Fifi is heading to remission. There's no reason you can't feed a very low carb food once she's off insulin. Frankly, I'd try a few cans of 5% and a few cans of 8% and let's see where she does best. Manipulating numbers with food isn't an exact science. It all depends on the cat.

Hi Nikki
Do you have a Petbarn near you?
You can buy Weruva brands there...the 'cats in the kitchen' .
The 'Funk in the Trunk' are 7.8 carbs and the 'Double Dip' and the Lamb Burgini' are 7.6 carbs.
They also have pouches which start at 12% carbs if you need something higher.
They also have a few in the 4.7 carb range
Here is the link to the weruva carbs.

ProPlan, which can be bought at Petcircle and other pet store...don't think Petbarn has them but I could be wrong.....has some higher low carb canned foods.
Have a look on Lisa Piersons list for the carb content of the Proplan cans

Ok thanks. I can get to pet barn today. So should I start giving her a mix of what I have and the 8% or just give her 8% on its own? She has gone up to 6.1 an hour after eating and her drop of insulin

The numbers increase is likely a food spike.

If it were me, I'd try the 8% first. I want to keep the "experiment" as clean as possible. If you end up mixing food with differing % carbs, you'll never be sure that the carbs are exactly the same at each meal. But, that's my 2 cents.

Yes I agree. I’ll do that today. The food she has had is 0-2% so will be interesting to see what happens.

While you are at petbarn have a look at the different brands they carry. I rarely go there now because I feed a raw diet to my cats. You can check them against the Lisa Pierson list and you might find more variety.
They get new stock in periodically.

Fifi is bouncing from the 85 Preshot this morning. She could easily have dropped lower last night during the cycle after the +3 106.
If you get a drop from the Preshot at +3 it is probably going to be an active cycle so best to set the alarm and test again.
How did you go at Petbarn?

I got some weruva food today. So I’ll give that a go for next few days to see how she goes. At what time after the pmps dose do you suggest I check her?

It is always a good idea to get a +2 or a before bed test so you can see how the cycle is likely to go. If the +2 is the same or lower than the Preshot, you are likely to have an active cycle so you will need to test again later to see Fifi is not going to drop too low.
I’ll watch for the BGs

3.8 (68) half hour before pmps! Do I give the drop or stall? What to do please. I can’t check after +2-3 tonight.
