Lost on Lantus - Shoot with lowish numbers and new dosage?

I finally was able to get syringes with the half units so I could increase Toonces’s dosage from 2 to 2.5 drawing from the pen after the vet determined 3 was too high.

Toonces has been all over this place on the new dose though — high yesterday and now low today. He had a pretty much downward curve all day today and I don’t know whether to shoot tonight at 100 or not?

I’m trying here and know I need to test more often to get more data but it’s been a struggle!

Yes. I can test tonight. I hadn’t been because I didn’t have much of an option other than the 2u until the syringes came. (I also have to do his shots at 8-9pm
due to my work schedule so night testing gets pretty late!)

My vet suggested the 2.5 but frankly I think I’ve been closer to the 2.25 based on trying to eyeball on the syringes!

He ate about 45 minutes ago and he’s at 229 now...so I’m thinking I shoot the same new dose?

How long after normal preshot time is it? Was the food he ate his normal low carb food? Normally we would withhold food while we are stalling, so we don't get numbers that are influenced by food. However, if he just ate a bit of LC, that 229 probably means he is on the rise.

He’s almost an hour after normal pre-shot time. Didn’t realize about withholding food while stalling -still learning! He ate his normal low carb food. Thanks!
