I would like to know if diabetics can have a small bit of tuna? I have a can of tuna in water that I was going to give my kittens for their birthday yesterday (but haven't so far), and I would like to include Blackie, my diabetic, in that mix. I'm concerned that it may raise her #s a bit, though.

Any thoughts, and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Tuna in water should not have carbs in it. Soy and Onions are bad for cats, so check the label. If it has soy or any vegatable broth in it, you may not want to give it. I had to really search to find a can of tuna that did not contain soy. It sounds like a lovely treat for a birthday party for your cats.

If you are near a Trader Joe's, they sell a "Tuna for Cats" which is just tuna. It's cheaper than human tuna too. I have a can ready for tomorrow, when my cat Gracie turns 21!
There isn't much liquid in it, but you can add a little water and let it sit for a few minutes..

Well, I read the label, and it has soybean oil, and vegetable broth in it, so Blackie will be missing out. I'm going to not give it to my UTI patient, Bubba, either. So, 5 cats, which include Aurora, Shadow (outdoor kitty), and the 3 remaining kittens will get it. I have no Trader Joe's out here, either. If there is one, I don't know about it, and it's probably too far to drive.

Thank you.

You could get a fancy feast appetizer... they have one that is tonga tuna and also a skipjack tuna.
With that many kitties, you'll probably want 3.... it's more packaging than food but it is made for cats and low carb. Nearly all the stores have these so you shouldn't
have any problem finding them.
