There are those on here that live on, or near the East Coast, who are in the direct path of Hurricane Sandy. There are so many of us on here that live all over the world, not just in this nation, but across the seas, too, that have severe weather related issues. My thoughts and prayers are with those that are dealing with severe weather issues (ie. Hurricane Sandy at this immediate time). May they stay safe, and get back to us when they can. May their beloved furbabies continue to give them all very lovely #s, and stay surfing in those lovely #s, too. No crashing, please. We don't want none-o-that, ok? God Bless everyone, and please continue to stay safe. :YMHUG:

My thoughts are with all on the East Coast and inland being disrupted by Sandy. Hope all are able to stay safe.
 
Angela, what a thoughtful condo, thank you for posting this.

I'll add my own prayers and vines and good thoughts to the "collection" for everyone facing a dangerous situation, weather-wise and otherwise. Be safe, take care of each other, and when you can, let people know you are alright.

Rough night...but we're OK so far.
I've had only one dog walk cancel ....Although I do suspect some folks may just be without power....

Traffic sounds like a real mess between roads closed, trees, and lines...gonna wait until afternoon to do any visits.

I heard transformers popping last night and my city is without power. One home burned overnight....I just heard a few more transformers popping across the river....

Few more hours of high winds to go yet....snow just south of me too.

Atlas kept me up most of the night too....he wouldn't settle down on the bed or under the covers. Gary and MudCat snuggled up together on the foot of the bed.

Authorities and RedCross are asking folks to shelter in place...
 
I live in Queens, New York and was not personally affected beyond the lights flickering a bit Monday night. My city is so horribly crippled; my heart goes out to all the people who've lost loved ones, lost homes to flooding or fire, have no power and clean water, can't get to their jobs with the subways shut down. It's horrifying.

Your words are eloquent and much like what many of us have been thinking.

Camille -- I just read your note and I'm glad you're safe. There was a video of Queens and it does look like your area was very hard hit. Please stay safe.
 
I am thinking and praying all those on the east coast as they start trying to recover from this disaster.
But I also want to inform as many as I can that if you want to do something to help, find a local charity to support and
don't give money to the red cross or the united way.

I speak from personal experience that throwing money at either charity doesn't mean it gets to anyone in this disaster.
When our town lost over 400 homes from fire, both of those charities took in huge amounts of donations where folks would even try
to write on their checks to make sure it was given to someone in Los Alamos and the money did not get spent here.
They use disasters to collect more money but the amounts they collect are not what it is given to the community that needs it.
It's just a big machine that has a lot of publicity in the name of good will.
The best charities in the country are where the folks that run it don't get paid huge salaries , for example, the Salvation Army.
Go google their salaries .....

Give you donations to local organizations that actually hand it to the folks there who are in need.

same with the humane society.... they don't spend any money on actually saving pets.
They don't take care of any pets .
 
Thank you for this beautiful condo. The devastation is unbelievable. Thankfully resources are pouring in from all over the country from as far as California. They evacuated most of the people from Atlantic City but there is a colony of cats, Feral, TNR cats the live under the boardwalk. I have been so worried about them. I received a message from Deb and Spot that about 20 of them have been spotted. Makes me so happy. Also the wild horses along the coast from NC to VA also survived. At least one bright spot in this terrible consequence of mother nature.
