High guys.
Just wanted to check in let you meet our new potential family member.

It was a bit rough losing Kitty and Blue this past year.
However it seems another nature may have determined it was time for us to have a new companion.
Silky showed up about 7 months ago the first time and disappeared. He reappeared on Halloween. Then disappeared again.
He appeared again during Sandy and then again last week.
I could not help but notice the duration between intervals was shortening. A sign perhaps???
His appearance to us is much the same as when Kitty came into our lives.

We figure he is about 2 years old. Very friendly and loving so far. Also appears to be well fed. We are not sure if he was abandoned or has been going house to house for a while. He needs to be neutered and have his shots. Right now we are in the test phase to see if he will stay. This will be 2nd full night in the house after about 4 days of living on our porch.
He is learning the ropes of the kitty door.
We have started him out right by feeding him Merrick. I picked up Wellness today and hopefully it will be acceptable to him as the cost is less.

Hope everybody has been well and has had success in the fight.
I'm still spreading the gospel.

Cheers!!!

What lovely news, Sev. He has such a beautiful shiny coat! I'm glad you are getting him on the right diet too. You needed a cat at your house, I think.

Thanks guys.
We are just hoping we are not catnapping someones pet. Hard to tell where he goes. As soon as he sees me he comes running over.
No way to know. However he is spending most of his time here at the moment. Goes out for a little while and then comes right back.
He has got the kitty door down and the location of the food source.

He devoured the Wellness chicken and beef. I have all the high protein ones on hand except for the pure seafood ones. I'll be passing on those.

SEV! He's BEAUTIFUL! I know what you mean about hoping you're not catnapping someone else's pet....I wonder that every time we're blessed with another fuzzy feetz. When they show up here tho', they're usually very skinny, scared and definitely no longer someone's 'love' altho' THEY still have love to give.

BLESS YOU AND BIG HUG!!!!

Um, hello! Canned food. Nice little bed. Toys to play with. A kitty door to come & go as he pleases? Heck, I'D move in!!! But the best thing is that he can sleep in the safety of his new home - with BOTH eyes closed! I think that's the best thing about bringing a kitty in who has been outside... even if he is getting love elsewhere too!

I tried to put a collar on Moochie Pooch w/ a note attached to his tag - to see if he belonged to someone. He had the collar off before he left the yard, so I never knew. But when he showed up w/ the acid burns on all 4 feet, and tested FIV positive, he came in to stay! Every once in a while he'll sneak out w/ the dogs and sow some wild oats, but he's pretty much living the high life now.

Congrats on being adopted! He's VERY handsome!!! I especially like the little white toes! :-D

Well he looks to be well fed. Very muscular. He has grown quite a bit since the first time he stopped by this past spring.
I would hate to think somebody is looking for their pet. Plus neutering someone else's pet just doesn't seem right.

No collar when he arrived.
I put a nice Christmas collar on him to see somebody puts a note on it.
He is basically staying inside and sleeping most of the day now. Goes out around midnight and returns around 4:30AM.
I know he is not getting fed then.

He is a voracious eater. I may have to meter his food.
Last night I left a plate of fresh hamburger on the counter. He was laying in the living room. I went outside to check the grill temp.
Came back in and there he was bogarting my burger meat. After having been fed the Wellness.

I tossed him down to the floor and then felt like a soccer goalie as I had to do 3 successive mid air blocks. That cat can leap. :-D :-D

By the way did I mention he is a herding cat.

When he is hungry he herds his humans towards the food bowl.

Damnedest thing I have ever seen.

Ok guys.
He just marched through his kitty door carrying a squirrel. ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile
I dont think we have to worry about the protein content of his diet.

Everything but the tail of the squirrel is missing!!

Wow, Silky knows how to survive! Sounds like someone we've got around here who was on his own as a kitten. Niko even ate some of my cottage cheese pancake on my plate when I got up to grab something from the kitchen and I hurried!

He came back in passed out for the afternoon.

Pushing on his stomach with my finger was like pushing on a balloon. I got swatted out for my efforts.

Can I conclude that the bringing in of the squirrel is a direct indication that he plans to stay?

This mornings breakfast was a vole.

I am taking him in to be neutered Friday. He will get all his vaccinations and dewormed at the same time.
I will have to get the leukemia test elsewhere.

Is anybody familiar with the pain killer Ketoralac?

Don't know about for cats but my brother was just on that and when I googled it and read the side effects, he decided he'd not take anymore....

It would be 1 dose for the neutering.
I tossed it out to the main forum to see what comes back.
Thanks for the input Carol.
