I am not sure you are going to find a vet who "really" knows about TR. My vet led me to this site for information and she is pretty up to date with diabetes but I don't think she has ever really studied up on TR vs. SLGS. She is pro testing and if she is unsure of anything I discuss with her, question or she has not run into before she researches or consults and gets back to me. I look after my Menace who has IAA (Insulin Auto-Antibodies) something Dr. Spence has never had a case of before, as I see fit and every so often I get an email from her asking me how things are going. I see my vet only when we need to and there was never any suggestion of doing curves in her office. I refuse to do fructosamine tests because of all the testing I do and she is fine with that too. She is open to new ideas and trying new things. In short, my vet doesn't dictate but she works with me. She will share her opinion but in the end, the decisions are mine to make. If you are interested in a vet like that then I highly recommend Dr. Erin Spence at the Islington Village Animal Hospital. By way of background, Dr. Spence worked at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic before opening her own practice here in Etobicoke.
