Lolly 2nd Day OTJ Trial: AMBG/115, +5/49 OK??.

Sorry I'm so late posting. Lolly had another great day! AMBG/58, +5/60, PMBG/67. Tomorrow I swear we'll only test AM/PM.

My Vet called today for our weekly consult-- she was very happily surprised! She wants me to bring Lolly in for a checkup, but I said I'd like to wait until the 14 days were up. Lolly gets particularly freaked over going to the vet (she pees and poops herself on the way there-- and on the way back) so I definitely don't want to take her now. I'll aways be grateful to my vet for suggestion the tight regulation protocol and knowing about LC. But it wouldn't have worked at all if I hadn't found the FDMB.

Things around here are getting very intense with the five civvies right now. Ever since switching to the LC, everyone seems to be experiencing a second kittenhood :cat:. It's like a crazy house, everyone racing around, chasing each other (in fun), mock fighting, knocking tons of stuff over-- ok, like before, but ten times more. We're having to catproof the house again. It's as if they were drugged before, and everyone's coming out of the stupor. It's almost scary to see the difference. And the changes haven't leveled off yet.

I feel terrible that we subjected them to all that HC and dry. I'm furious at the pet food industry. And I don't understand why so many vets still recommend HC formulas and dry. OMG- something crashed upstairs, gotta go....:rolleyes:
 
Isn't it amazing how much of a difference a good diet can make??

My 2 civvies were both overweight and they've both lost considerable poundage after I got rid of the dry. Energy levels went up too (which as you've seen, isn't always a good thing!...LOL)

Go Lolly! :D Happy Day 3. Must be fun to have a house full of kittens again. I have to bite my tongue when I'm in the vet's office and I see someone pick up some HC dry junk for their kitty. Especially for weight loss. :rolleyes:

What was the crash upstairs? Or were they all looking innocent by the time you got there hahahaha. Lolly is doing so great :D:D:D

Teeheeheeheehee meg rabbit just decided she'd get in on the naughty action too and wrenched the iPad away from me with her teeth! There's another animal that they have all the wrong foods on the supermarket shelves for - seeds in everything and those stupid unnecessary pellets! Luckily by the time she came along I knew to do my research!

I wouldn't put Lolly through the stress of a vetty visit (not to mention your expense) just to satisfy the vets curiosity. If you just ask the vet if it's really necessary given how much it stresses Lolly they'll probably say it's not. One thing you can try if you do go, or for future reference, is the pet or children's version of Bach flower rescue remedy. I believe you rub a couple of drops on their ears and put the bottle under their nose to sniff before you take off. A lot of people have found that very effective for their kitties when travelling.
 
You might consider doing some systematic desensitization with Lolly so that travel and vet visits were less traumatic.
This is where you break down the process into tiny steps, take a week or more at each step, and use positive reinforcement to help reduce the anxiety associated with the activity.
The first step could be leaving a carrier out, with a comfortable towel in it, with maybe a dash of catnip, Feliway, Rescue Remedy, or the Bach flower essence in it.
