? Loki has a bad UTI

First one in 8 years of being diagnosed , really scary to see him like that. Got him in early to the vets and he was given antibiotic shot (which he has done well with in the past) and fluids. Already a difference in him. First thing he did was go to the food bowl and eat a small amount. Of course his BG is really high but we can work on that. At 24 I am blessed it was something we could treat knowing he will not be with me much longer . Is there anything I can give him to help with this? Given he is also in stage 1 of kidney issues.

Many people find that giving the supplement d-mannose helps ward off UTIs. It's an ingredient from cranberries.

He's 24?! Amazing!! Obviously well loved and well cared for. :D:bighug:

Thanks so much for the advise, just wondering what brand would be best? and how much? He is now down to 8 lbs. Again I appreciate the advise.

24yrs old wow! i hope my tux can be with me that long too.

i started using D-mannose powder after reading about it here first (i use the NOW version). tux was starting to pee standing up & shaking his tail again so i put a tsp in each of their 1 1/2cp water bowls every morning and its been two days and he is peeing squatting again..

this is what i read on a vet site:
""The recommended dosage is of 2g or a level teaspoon, 4 times a day, one hour apart. The symptoms of feline urinary infections improve after only one day. This treatment may need to be repeated if the symptoms occur again or if they do not completely disappear after the first day.""
