Hello
I am thankful for this board. Max was diagnosed in May of 2011 and this board and the info was invaluable. I do have a question. My cat Max is starting to develop lipomas. I have searched everywhere to see if there is any connection between diabetes and lipomas in cats. I just can't believe that it is coincidental that now all of a sudden he is developing these fatty bumps. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Re: Introducing Barbara and Sugar Cat Max

Good morning Barbara -

I don't have an answer for you, but you may wish to change your subject to "Lipoma in FD cats" or something like that, to catch the eye of someone who does know. Good luck!

Welcome I have no experience with this condition but my post will bump your thread to the top. Good luck and welcome to the best site on the planet!

Re: Introducing Barbara and Sugar Cat Max

My civvie Gustav developed a lipoma in 2008 when he was 13 years old.

I don't think its related to diabetes, because lipomas are fat cell cancer. We did a fine needle biopsy on Gustavs lipoma on the chest, and it all was fat cells.

They are benign if they grow on the outside but not if the grow on the inside where they can grow into heart and organs.

Scruffy developed a big lipoma on his right side a couple years ago. Like Gustav's, it was just fat cells. It didn't seem to cause him any discomfort, and we didn't do anything to try to treat it or remove it. (It was a BIG son-of-a-gun, though!)
