I took Linus to the vet yesterday to check in and because he's had an ongoing ear problem and it seemed to be getting worse. She feels like it may be a food allergy, so if that's true it complicates the feeding protocol, for sure. It's been a problem he's had for a while, I'm going to compare ingredients in the dry food he used to get and the canned food he's getting now and try to eliminate things one at a time. Does anyone know what the usual culprits are? He is going to get Gentizol in his ears twice a day, this is a mild steroidal ointment, and I was told it may affect his diabetes, but probably not to any great degree.

I had bumped him up to about 1.25 and stayed there for a few days and then bumped again to 1.5. He was pretty flat at 1.25, and his pre shot numbers jumped back into the 400's. After 2 days at 1.5, pre-shot numbers are much better this morning, and he actually was in the 200's yesterday afternoon (+8) at the vet's office (my meter was at 235 and the vet was at 296 with an Accucheck) I am going to hold at 1.5 through the weekend and try to get some mid-cycle numbers.

Overall, my vet seems to be impressed with the spreadsheet and the research I've been doing, I think she thinks it's overkill, but she's ok with it.

This looking good, Sue. a curve will be nice to see if those reds at ps are caused by a lower nadir. The yellow was nice at the vet - wonder if it would have been lower at home when he wasn't stressed?

You might ask re the ears and allergies and see if anyone on Health has had similar issues. One wet food that often is an allergy culprit is beef.

Another allergy culprit is grain. Merrick BG (before grain) seems to help some kitties. Definately ask about food allergies on Health, you will get alot of feedback.

I'm glad your Vet was impressed, she should be.

You are doing wonderful SUe,
Sorry about the allergies, but hopefully you will get that figured out!
Curve is a great idea! the more data the better
