I gave it to her at 4:30 I think and she is due her dinner and insulin in about 1 1/2 hours.Cross-posted again, Sally.
Couple of questions:
1. At what '+' time did you give Lily the food? (And please don't feed any more for now!)
2. How long in hours and minutes till Lily's next dose is due? (I'm in a different time zone to you.)

They knew I was feeding them all this and never said anything. Thanks for the info! I think I will go to the Purina for all of them. Will sure be less expensive.Hi, Sally. I don't know what your vet thinks but when Max blocked and needed an RX food, my vet did not want my other cat to eat that food. I had to feed them in separate rooms from that point on.
Thank you!! I agree completely and appreciate your input.Hi Sally, I agree with Mogs. On Vetsulin you do not want them falling below 90 (possibly 100 if Alphatrak, someone correct me if I'm mistaken) so I would say it's safer to go to 0.50u considering the drop + food change. We can always go back up if needed but better safe than sorry.![]()
Must have been 5:30 because I put it at +10So would 4:30pm be your AM+9?

Honestly I don’t remember it has probably been 10 years. I remember trying another food over the counter for the issue but she got sick again. I want to be extra careful with her because she will not let me hold her at all.Did your cat block or have crystals? There isn't anything magic about RX foods. Because Max had blocked I used Hills CD. He was on it way too long. Finally my vet told me to put him on any canned food when he didn't want to eat CD any more and that was before he became diabetic. He only blocked the one time and was fine.
In this case if it ain't broke don't fix it.Honestly I don’t remember it has probably been 10 years. I remember trying another food over the counter for the issue but she got sick again. I want to be extra careful with her because she will not let me hold her at all.
Yes, I think I will, thanks! In this case if it ain't broke don't fix it.LOL. Of course you will leave her on it but I would change the others if they are willing. Cats can be finicky. I'm sure you know the change needs to be done slowly to avoid go upset.
That's grand. Any later and there would have been food influence on the PMPS BG reading.Must have been 5:30 because I put it at +10
Welcome and thank you for joining.Hi, my Lily has just been diagnosed and I am supposed to give her 2mm of Vetsulin 2 times a day. Does that sound like too much?
I just looked at your spreadsheet and you're doing great!Thank you so much. I started her on the prescription Purina DM tonight and just gave her 1 mm Vetsulin instead of 2. My fingers are crossed! I will talk to the vet tomorrow. Appreciate your help.
Thank you!!!!I just looked at your spreadsheet and you're doing great!
By the way, she's a beautiful cat. How old is she?Thank you!!!!

You're fine posting here, Sally. The Vetsulin board is very, very quiet. More people will see your posts on Feline Health.Sorry, I haven’t been on any other forums except for this one.
So sorry for not replying here sooner, Sally.Ok, I just took Lily’s BG and she is 200. My plan is to feed her and give her .5 Vetsulin. Is that a good plan?
I fed her but haven’t given her the insulin yet.So sorry for not replying here sooner, Sally.
You were just on the crest at 200 for a safe 'early days' preshot where you've only started testing.
Would it be correct to assume that that you've fed Lily and given her her insulin by now?

She ate about 1/2 hour ago. Yes I have honey here . The vet never mentioned ketones to me so I have no idea. I could wake up to monitor her if needed. That's cool!
Some pre-flight checks:
1. How long ago did you give Lily her meal?
2. Do you have a good supply of test strips, honey, karo, higher carb food?
3. Should the need arise, would you be able to monitor Lily's BG for at least the next 8 hours?
4. Has Lily ever had a positive test for ketones? (Sorry if I've asked you this before, but for safety I like to check.)

Oh, you're a topper, Elizabeth!I'm sorry Mogs I did not get the tag for some reason.I'm here now!
Not yet but I can and test again in an hour.Get some rest, Mogs!
Sally, can you get a test an hour after shooting? You already gave insulin I'm assuming?
I like #2 best!!OK,
Because we haven't got much data yet for Lily we are a bit in the dark about how she'll respond to her dose decrease and we need to be a bit extra-cautious.
Options:
1. Give 0.5IU dose this evening - you may need to monitor for many hours.
2. Give 0.25IU dose this evening and start on the 0.5IU dose in the morning - you are less likely to need to monitor throughout the cycle but there's no guarantee you won't need to stay up (Vetsulin can be like that: with cats in better numbers and even a smaller dose may significantly drop BG numbers.)
Elizabeth and Sally, what do you think?

Thanks, sweet dreams! That's my two penn'orth, Sally. Elizabeth will look after you both now. You're in good hands.
And you did great with the testing today! You're a natural.

Sounds good. I gave it to her at 9:15 so plan on checking her BG at 10:15.Alrighty Sally, you let me know when you give insulin and then I'll peek in on an hour to check on you!![]()
