My cat Lilly has allergies and she has scratched her self around the neck. There are scabs all the way around. She used to get Depo Medrol for the scratching but that is out of the question now with the diabetes. She can not be pilled but I can give her shots oddly enough.
I will have to take her now for a shot of Convenia out of concern for infection. Is it okay for this injection with the diabetes? I can have her nails clipped but I am quite concerned about this scratching. She used to do the area between her ears and eyes until it was bleeding.

Have you changed her diet? She is probably allergic to certain foods. Read up on Google about it. Also are you religious about her flea treatment? I don't think my boy has fleas but it's best to make sure they don't get bitten as one bite is really bad for them. I'm doing the allergy thing so I know how difficult it is. Also I give my boy a full hayfever pill on my vets instructions. Certirizine hydrochloride 10mg - but he's a 20+lb kitty. (I think Zyrtec basically) I hate, hate, hate seeing him distressed with the itching so I know where you are coming from. He has a bunch of sores on his face that must be allergies bumps. Also some on his body - plus a bald tummy and hindlegs from biting off his fur.

Can you get him a cat food like mixed rabbit. LB is a diabetic too so it's a pain in the ^%$#!

I personally have not had a problem with Convenia but read the articles suggested just so you know what could go wrong. I prefer not to use it as it's expensive - but it is meant to help mostly with skin issues. I've spent a long time trying to find a diet fit for my King Kitty but it's not easy with allergies.

she used to be on Green Peas and Duck Royal Canin I think, but still had the the itching from time to time. I live in Ohio and I think its some kind of seasonal or else she does have fleas which I pray not as I have 3 other cats.

Sue, thanks for the article on Convenia, also at the end it mentions that cats should never be given Metacam. My vet tried to give me that for my cat a couple months ago. I swear.
