Just wanted to let everyone know about an amazing experience I had! My cat mittens was diagnosed with diabetes about one month ago. For a little while we were going into the vets office to do in office testing, but but it was so expensive, not to mention out of the way. I finally decided to try out the in home testing. I found a website online called Pet medical outlet. They have by far the lowest prices I have seen on the alphatrak glucose monitoring supplies. They even gave me a discount! The supplies got here so much faster than I was expecting and even had free shipping! Definitely going back. I highly recommend everyone go check them out and give them a try!

I buy the FreeStyle light strips for $58 for 100. No shipping charges. I think it was from ADW. the Freestyle light works in the AT. Several people here use them.

I really have to try the frestyle light ones.... I know it will save money but i'm still hesitant if I can trust the results.

I was looking at ADW but their price on the Alphatrak meter is much more expensive. I was told by my vet that the alphatrak testing system is the safest and most highly used pet glucose monitor out there. I did ask about using normal test strips on a cat but they strongly suggested against it, saying that it was unsafe.

From what I have seen here, the FDA allows a 20 percent difference on strips I have tried multiple strips with AT and FSL strips with the same drop of blood. I have found numbers all over the place. It's scary when you get different numbers when one or more are in the don't shoot or hypo range.

That is scary! I know when I spoke with someone at Pet Medical Outlet they said that if there were a few strips that were giving false readings in a single box to contact them and they will notify the manufacturer. So far in my box I think ive had one that gave a reading a little off but other than that its been right on point!

I never thought to talk to anyone. I have been getting them from Amazon or my vet. I do use the test solution for every box. I will be checking around with more venders.

If you ever get a reading that doesn't seem to "fit" with the other numbers, please do another test. Sometimes if there is a smaller drop of blood..enough to give a reading..but still not quite enough for a good reading, you can get off numbers.

I use FreeStyle Lite strips with the AlphaTrak2 tester. They work fine. You can get them off ebay for about $0.50/strip if you buy 50 strips or 100 strips at a time.

Sometimes people affiliated with a diabetes supply company may join the FDMB for advertisement purposes.
Sometimes they might even "borrow" a picture off the internet to use as an avatar.
Just sayin... as always, shop around and buyer beware. :)

FYI: The FDMB gets a little bit back if our members order from American Diabetes Wholesale by using our shopping affiliate link found here: Fundraisers for FelineDiabetes.com. Scroll about two-thirds the way down the page to find it. The shopping link to American Diabetes Wholesale (ADW) is right next to Amazon.com box. It won't cost you a thing and every little bit helps keep this place open to help you and your precious kitties. :cat:
