Libre Help

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the Libre. Every time I attach the sensor, it reads with 10% of my human reader. However, within a few hours the reading start to differ by over 200pts!! My Prodigy reader will say 329, Alpha Trak will be 355, and the Libre will read 110!! I tried several sensors (Libre, Libre 2, and Libre 3.) and they all act the same way. I am lost at this point. I apply the sensor correctly and it's not loose. I have gone through about 6 sensors now.

Any thoughts as to why this is happening? An help would be greatly appreciated!

I can't help you out with the Libre because I never used one
Maybe if you go back to your title and put a ? first you will get note eyes on it
Look to the right tap in the word Thread Tools then tap in Edit Title add the ? first then tap Save
I see in your signature it says you are following TR dosing method for lantus ,if you are feeding the kibble yet you can only follow SLGS
I see when you tap on your spreadsheet it not there, says it had been deleted

I’ve heard there can be quite a different and some folks feel are not as reliable because of that. Hope you’ll get more answers soon!

Hi there @doose24 I’ve been using libres since February and really like using them. They take a lot of stress off of me in someways.
My cat does not like being poked. She is very difficult to handle so a Libre gives me the flexibility to monitor her and if I see if she’s going really low, under 50, then I will absolutely use a handheld meter to poke and test her.
Please check out this Facebook page (below) they are extremely knowledgeable with how to install a Libre device and everything needed to operate a device. I have found them extremely helpful and all of their information is a great resource.
I hope this information helps you and please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. I am currently using the libre 3 since early May, and before that I was using the libre 2.
The benefit of the libre 3 for me is that I can watch on the app on my phone exactly where her BG numbers are instead of having to manually scan her within eight hours using the libre 2. (I never use the original Libre device)

Hi @Staci & Ivy, thanks for Facebook tip. I did post there but it wasn't much help. I put on a new libre 3 sensor yesterday, and the same thing happened. It reads 140 but my pet and human meter are reading over 300! I really don't know what to do anymore.

I understand. I do think there are meter variances. I’m still learning, too, about how to figure out the correlation.
I do think the best thing to do is watch the trends it shows you.
My Ivy drops very low, very fast. Into the 50s on the Libre.
When I check against a handheld meter, it’s usually anywhere between 106-135 on the handheld human meter.
I guess I can assume she’s not actually having a hypo however, she’s still very low, having dropped from say the 300s or 200s very quickly, so that at least Libre alerts me if there’s a problem going on and I need to pay very close attention.
That’s when I cross check with the handheld meter just to make sure.
I do treat the situation With either medium carbs and or Karo syrup if needed to try to raise her numbers.
It usually takes me about three hours to get her stabilized because she tends to drop right at meal time /shot time.
Then once I get past the 3 to 4 hour mark, she tends to level off. She usually jump much higher because she dropped so low, but she’s not super low any more at that point.
Not sure if I’m just rambling here and you can learn anything from what I’m saying.

For the first 12-24 hours the Libree can be quite off from an ear stick but get closer w/time. I have only used the Libre 14 Day and Libree 2 and for those the Libre tends to reads lower higher at low BGS. I friend who use the Libre 3 show the opposite, the Libre 2 reads lower than and ear stick. The relationship can change over the life of the sensor. The Libre is really to be used for cats (and dogs) to trends as to what is happening, not as a substitute for ear sticks. I still do an ear stick before each shot. w or w/o a Libre.
