Libre 3 -- so frustrating!

Hi all,

My old guy Buddy was diagnosed a few weeks ago and I just applied his third Libre 3 Plus sensor.

The first one never worked, a vet tech applied it but we had crazy trouble getting the sensor to respond to my phone and turn on, and after it turned on it never gave me a reading. Abbot sent a replacement.

The second one might have worked for the first 12 hours or so but the day after I applied it, I called Abbott and read the event log to them and they sent another replacement.

Now I just applied the third sensor and once again the sensor doesn't respond to or acknowledge my phone so afaik nothing is being monitored. It's so frustrating because the second one woke up right away.

I'm just so irritated and frustrated. I have absolutely no idea what my boy's glucose reading is and I never have, so I'm just watching him for any troubling symptoms. But I mean, why are these things so unreliable?

You might want to consider learning how to test blood sugars with a hand held blood glucose meter. It's a useful tool as a backup. Also, more reading to help you identify worrying symptoms:

Thanks. I note that scanning the device is normally so easy there aren't any real instructions for it. That's what it was like with device #2. I'm absolutely going to get an old style glucose reader. I can't imagine going through this exercise every two weeks. Ugh.
 
I’m sorry you have had a trouble with the Libres.
If the first one was applied by a vet tech using glue, that could have been the reason for the first one not working
Since you have applied the second to yourself, have you followed the instructions in the link, Wendy you provided up above?

They can be a bit finicky, but can also work quite well.
If you can manual test with ear pokes, that is certainly the preferred way that you can be assured of what you are seeing for the glucose.

There was also a Facebook group for Clive users for pets which is mentioned in the link Wendy sent you. I highly recommend joining that if you plan to use a Libre, there are lots of document and instructions there in even more detail.
