Levermir and Prednisolone

Does anyone know if Levermir and Prednisolone can be used togather. It says on the side effects that may cause drug interaction. Don't know if that means you might have to use more due to the pred. or not . Does anyone use these two togather? Just got some yesterday and was going to start on it today but, read the side effects and don't know if I should give it or not. Peg and Toby

Yes the two can be used together. Insulin isn't a drug its a hormonethat should be occurring naturally in the system. However the condition the pred is treating and the pred itself will change the insulin dose. You'll probably have to shoot a higher dose.

Thank-You for you reply. Before I saw your reply I called the Pharmacist and she said the same thing. I shot with the old insulin again today and will start the other in the morning. Thanks again Peg and Toby

Adding Pred doesn't ALWAYS require an increase in insulin.

My Norton didn't need any extra insulin when we added pred, but he was a high doser --

If you're testing every day, you will see within a day or two if you need to increase a little bit.
