Well i finally got up the nerve today to do a curve on Leo, looks like the insulin is finally starting to take effect! I just took a +4 reading and it was 9.0 mmol/L or 162!

I gotta tell you i feel so much better knowing that i'm home testing and that i started out giving him a 1.0 u dose instead of the 3.5 u dose the doc recommended (he also recommended doing it blindly....no hometesting).

So thank you everyone for your great advice! I couldn't have done it without the people on this forum.

Is that Leo in your avatar? He is so cute! Glad he is doing better and that the insulin is bringing his #'s down (gently on the lower starting dose). This forum has really been a huge help for me with my cat. As you get more tests in, post if you have questions. It's a learning process in the beginning (what the #'s mean on the dose).

Glad Leo is doing better and that you are home testing too. I've even been able to train my 19 year old daughter how to test which helps so much when I am at work. I agree that just giving the insulin blindly is scary!

Your Leo reminds me of my Jack! Very cute indeed! :-D

Why thank you! He is very handsome and cute indeed. He must be feeling better, he's talking and complaining to me as usual......lol.
