I can't believe I did this....I left Curry's insulin out of the frig for 12 hours...Temp in apt was about 75-78.

I do have another prescription from my vet for the pens..I was holding on to for the future.....

So, it the future now.

It will probably be okay. I've left mine out for a long time before (maybe 6 hours).
You'll know whether you need to get fresh insulin, by the BG numbers.

Our insulin has also been left out before. It's still in good shape (visibly, and in the numbers.) I don't think you have too much to worry about, but I'll cross my fingers for you and hope that it's not a new bottle, anyway.

(OH! Rufus is getting in trouble this morning for "sharking" the dog food! He's a bad boy for life!)

Thanks for all the feedback.

Yeah, the bottle was fairly new.....2.5 weeks..... I'm hopeful.

Oh shoot! I bet that just made you shake your head when you saw it on the counter. I have left mine out before for a few hours and just couldn't believe how I missed it. It happens...I hope your insulin is just fine!

Thanks Pat. That was nice to hear.

Yeah, had a brain fart last night.

I spoke w/the pharmacist at work...he was pretty reassuring...said 12 hours at room temp is most likely OK...look for changes in the color...etc...etc.....so everything y'all have told me. I might just get the pen prescription filled to have on hand....

Curry seems to be stablizing in terms of peaks and valleys since I reduced her to .5 units...We are at 2.5 weeks mark on lantus.

I'm trying to figure out how to monitor Curry for the lower numbers in the future and be at work. Curry seems to nadir at 3 hours, but had an instance or two where she dropped at 2 hours. On the weekend that is OK..I'm home and able to monitor her. Its during the week that is worrisome. She doesn't eat during the day or evening unless I give to her.....I've left food out in the past and she ignores it. So a foodtimer won't work. I'm trying to teach her (when I am home) to go to the food bowl.....Evidently, I'm not speaking her language....

So all in all, Curry and I are slowly getting the hang of this new routine. I'm just trying to find a timetable to accomodate a diabetic kitty and work.
