Hey there,

Insulin-Prozinc 1 unit twice daily
We have changed to all canned diet-Friskies chunks with gravy(not the lowest carb but he won't eat pate)

A couple of times recently the readings have been low enough that I haven't given a shot in the evening(based off of no shot under 200). Today they were both low. Should I continue not shooting and see what happens?

125 10/18/12 6:23pm no shot?
106 10/18/12 7:27am no shot
220 10/17/12 7:40pm 1 unit shot
219 10/17/12 7:23am 1 unit shot
87 10/16/12 7:18pm no shot
no data 10/16/12 am 1 unit shot
182 10/15/12 7:49am no shot
303 10/14/12 8:01 pm 1 unit shot

Sorry, I will set up a profile shortly, just been swamped with work.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Re: Last 2 test below no shot level, do I continue with no s

When you give 1 unit, you often wind up skipping the next shot. Ideally, you want to give a consistent amount at 12 hour intervals. You might try giving only 0.5 units so you can shoot twice a day AND not risk a hypoglycemic episode by shooting too much.
Try to get some tests around 5-6 hours after a shot to see how low the glucose is getting. The low pre-shot tests worry me.

It looks like you are getting close but it is hard to tell what is really happening without the midcycle numbers. Are the 200s+ bounces from low nadirs? If so, you might adjust the doses down to reflect that. You can probably get to remission with preshots only but you are missing a big piece of the puzzle(nadirs) and guessing what is happening and how to react to that. It is harder and may take longer and may involve some starts and stops.

Can you get some more numbers this weekend to get a clearer picture? Nadirs would help so much. You can also consider .5 units if needed.

Have you tried adding water to the pates to make a sort of gravy? Just a little lower carb can also make a big difference.

Hey there,

Thank you as always for your responses!

It has been 5 1/2 days since I have given Syd a shot.
I was not able to get more numbers over the weekend due to my work schedule. However, I have been testing at the same time still everyday.
I will try to get more numbers again this weekend.

Please take a look at the SS here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub ... utput=html
Could it be that he is doing fine with just the diet change to only canned food?

I tried adding water to the pate, he sniffed it once, gave me that "yeah, whatever" look and didn't eat until the next meal. So, I have stuck with the friskies chunks with gravy for now. I even tried mixing the chunks with pate...nope, wouldn't have it. Didn't even try to eat the chunks. I'm thinking if he's anything like me, it's a texture thing...I hate pate(unless it's on bread)

Thanks for any insight!

If you can make it through 2 weeks with no shots and good numbers, then Syd may be officially declared Off The Juice!

Looking really good; keep testing and especially try to get some tests a couple hours after eating, when glucose is known to spike.
