a little discouraged as this is his highest evr. i think this is when i shd give 2.25. i can try to see that on the syringe.
however, i wont be able to monitor until maybe plus6 today. thoughts?
to increase or no?

Re: larry 2/4 amps 485/ question- is any1 here to answer?

This could be because the insulin wore off. Or, it could be due to bouncing.

When the glucose drops suddenly or to an unfamiliar level, this can triggervhormones which release stored sugar (glycogen). This raises the glucose back up for a while. It mak take several days to clear.

Keep the dose the same and try to get tests around the probable nadir.

the same? 2u?
nadir at plus6? or when?
thanks!

Re: larry 2/4 amps 485/ question- is any1 here to answer?

Nadir for Humulin or Novolin is roughly +3 to +5 hours after the shot.

Usually those insulins last about 6 to 8 hours in the cat.
This leaves 4 to 6 hours out of 12 hours without insulin.
It can work better in some cats to dose every 8 hours, using 1/3 of the total daily dose.

Keep the same dose, the 2U for this shot.

If you can't test again until +6, that's ok. We know people have to do other things in their lives, and can't always test at nadir.

ok, i attempted a 2.25 but feel it was closer to 2, or between those.
i may be able to get a plus2, then hopefully the plus6.
looking at him tells me most everything right now :( he looks so pitiful. usually after a shot, he lays down and rests so sleepily. atm he is still wide eyed, and i dont think he feels well. poor guy :(((

larry doesnt feel well. i dont think. hes at 305 but not interested in his catnip or anything. usually hes vry relaxed by now. i feel so sorry for him. poor baby :(
love my babies.

Aww. I hope he feels better soon. It was nice to see the blue yesterday. Maybe he will feel closer to normal when his BG comes down more.

I don't know enough about N to say whether his higher number this morning is from a bounce off the lower blue number yesterday or just because his body ran out of insulin.
Looking at his past numbers though, it seems like he always gets back into the high 300s or 400s after his dose wears off. So it's not clear to me that today's AMPS is any different.

Having said that, I can make a case for a bounce since this is a high red of 485 that came after a day with a mid-blue of 166. Hard to say which is happening.
