How do I go about getting Lantus insulin in Canada? And, just wondering if George getting 3 units every 12 hours is a lot? And, does anyone know if that monitor you put on a human to monitor BS, would work for a cat? That means, no sticking for blood. Thanks

Quite a few members order from Marks in Canada. They are very knowledgeable and the customer service is good.

As for the FreeStyle Libre, a few people have tried it with varying success. It is harder to keep the chip on the cat than on a human.

Tagging @Crista & Ming who also tried it.

Hi and welcome.
If you are just starting on insulin now, then 3 units is too much.
The normal starting dose for Lantus is around 1 unit depending on the weight of your cat and if you are feeding dry food.

I would recommend you buy a human meter and learn to test the blood glucose levels. It is not hard to do. Just a matter of learning. It won’t hurt your cat.
The meter you are mentioning which is attached to the cat is possibly ok very short term but would not be an ongoing thing. Apart from anything else, the cost would be great.
Keep asking questions. We are happy to help.
